Does milk affect Ecstasy?

I was once told that drinking milk helps to kill off the remaining effects of Ecstasy when coming down. Is this in anyway true? Are there certain types of food or drink that work against the effects of E?

I can't think of any reason why milk would speed up the metabolism of MDMA.

As far as foods that work against the effects, if you ate a large/fibrous meal beforehand, the absorption would probably be slowed. But other than that, I can't think of anything.

Hmm, I never thought to take milk thistle after E. And the person who told me about this said milk, not milk thistle. Do you notice any differences (positive) when you postload with milk thistle?

There is some evidence of antioxidant effects and hepatotoxicity protection from milk thistle, but my personal opinion is that it requires more research. I guess, it probably couldn't hurt, though.

anything vitamin C will sober you up, stuff like fruit and orange juice
Any evidence for that? I take it you don't preload then if you believe vitamin C fucks with your rolls?

I don't think any food/vitamin/mineral affects rolling, vitamin C and calcium (from milk) included.
I also think milk thistle is unnecessary as by my understanding, MDMA really doesn't put that much stress on your liver. You'd be better off taking milk thistle after a heavy night on the vodka.

Who told you Vit C helps sober you up? I've drank juices with 100% per serving and never lost my roll....I think this is crap. If you look it up on here, you will see pretty much no one claiming this. Maybe you're ass-backwards, because no one I know has that happen to them.

i didnt say it makes you lose your roll or anything as drastic as that, im sure it wouldnt. All i meant was at the beginning of the end of a comedown it would help restore normality a bit. Vit C is an antioxidant and speeds up the metabolism of the liver helping to process anything toxic in your body.

Milk contains serotonin. Makes you trip balls!

I know it contains other neurotransmitters, too. Serotonin probably never makes it trough as a molecule.

Puddito, I had no idea vitamin C aided hepatic metabolism... what an all round wonder vitamin it must be...

Sprinklervibes, milk is high in tryptophan (which as you probably know is a precursor to serotonin), you mean drinking milk before/during your roll potentiates things? I don't see why not, but it's fairly accepted that 5-HTP (a closer->better precursor of serotonin) immediately before a roll seems to spoil it.

i had tried to drink milk after rolling, jus cuz i like milk... and it make my stomack feel realy realy sick

Vitamin C does not affect the expression of the CYP2D6 enzyme to any significant extent (or any other CYP enzyme). These enzymes + unchanged renal excretion are responsible for MDMA's excretion.

Thus vitamin C has no effect on how fast the MDMA is metabolised.

It's worth noting, however, that acidifing your urine can speed up the excretion of MDMA. Cranberry juice is relatively good at this, I think.

HalcyoN- - as I said earlier, vitamin C has no influence on the rate of MDxx metabolism via the liver. IF it affects urinary pH, it may affect the rate of renal excretion.

Milk contains tryptophan, not serotonin. Serotonin doesn't pass through the blood brain barrier anyway.

Tryptophan has to compete for transport across the BBB with tyrosine, phenylalanine, valine, leucine and isoleucine. If you take a look at an analysis of milk, you'll find it actually has a very high leucine/isoleucine : tryptophan ratio, meaning its a POOR CHOICE for serotonin replacement...
