Does ket destroy nasal tissue?

Just curious as to whether ketamine is known to be a stimulant in destroying membranes and tissues in your nasal cavity when snorted?

Yeah, to hijack the thread what about 2c-b? I assume the damage it would cause would heal up pretty fast, since it's not something you take compulsively.

I'd also guess that while the damage with stims might not be as severe, the compulsive use doesn't really give the body a chance to regrow, could be wrong, so I'd appreciate a more definite answer.

Most of the references I can find regarding the acidity of ketamine put a solution of 10% at roughly pH 3 or 4. Carbonated soft drinks have a pH of 2 or 3 so they're more acidic.

I think most of the tissue damage comes from drying out of the sinuses and mechanical irritation.

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but K (similar to mdma, coke, etc) is an HCl salt and as such, is going to eat away at your nose with excessive use.

I think the big problems come to light when a habit is formed, and you're putting grams of the stuff in your nose daily. I remember reading a thread started by some dude who was snorting I think..3 or 4g? every day, and he just noticed a hole connecting his nostrils. Do not want, keep your K use sane and you shouldn't have any major issues!

happy wonking! :)

As far as I know it's not the HCl that is the problem, it is just that the compounds themselves are to some extent caustic or dehydrating to the nasal membrane, freebases being notoriously more caustic.
But amphetamines and coke seem to be significantly more damaging than ketamine while normal amphetamine is usually the sulphate salt and coke and ketamine the HCl salts. My guess is that making something like ketamine phosphate or tartrate of fumarate would not help all that much, perhaps just a little.

But all of these organic compounds are in some way reactive at least at an ionization level (pH) as opposed to inert stuff like sand, glass and many plastics. Then there is the mechanical damage, I can see sharp crystals doing harm if they are not crushed properly.

I wonder how bad heroin is for the nasal passage, or a number of pharmaceuticals? I have snorted things that were very soft to take like modafinil. Although the amounts are pretty small for that.

Snorting too much of anything is probably a bad idea but I would still be interested to hear what psychoactive drug would do the least damage when snorted. To the nasal passage at least.

As far as I can tell vasoconstrictive drugs like amphetamines, 2C's, cocaine etc pose the most risk because they restrict blood flow to the nasal tissues.
