Does anyone like bupe?

Do people like bupe? How does it compare to other opioids? I am on Butrans patch and I find that I have good days and bad days. I use Butrans for chronic pain for 8 years now and it definitely helps me with my pain but sometimes it makes me feel badly and sometimes I feel quite nice.

I do like bupe, i think it's a very useful opioid, but I just had to switch to methadone. Financial reasons caused me to switch from a private prescription to a daily dosing clinic here in the States, and once-daily dosing of 16, and then 20mg, doesn't agree with my metabolism. With the private script I was able to split, 8mg morning and afternoon, and that would carry me, maybe add an extra 2 or 4mg if I felt I needed it. But dosing once a day, it seems no amount short of the max dosage would carry me the whole day, so I had to switch to the dark side, lol.

But yes, I like it, it definitely earns a spot in the medicine cabinet. I tell people sometimes that bupe is like the light beer of opioids, for those who enjoy opioids and functionality.

Thanks Jack
Good to hear positive. Yes my Butrans is expensive even after insurance. When I was on methadone many years ago it was covered by the government. I think Suboxone may be covered in Canada but Butrans is expensive and a lot of prescription plans don’t cover it. I am lucky with good insurance.

Yeah, the plan is for me to be opioid-free by 2026, but when I decide to taper I'll be switching back to the Sublocade shot, which I know that transition is going to suck ass lol, but I've heard very good things, first-hand accounts, so I'm hopeful on that. Should be covered by insurance as well, but the telehealth model I was using to get my subutex wasn't. This is a portion of healthcare that is thankfully being subsidized, albeit slowly lol.

I’m on Butrans 8 years and have good days and bad days. I’m terrified to give up the Butrans but for the most part I’m okay on it. As a bonus I don’t crave other opioids and of course it helps me with my chronic pain.

Hell, take it the rest of your life if you have to.
It's certainly far preferable to playing Russian Roulette with street drugs.

I really like it, i used to take one subutex pill (8mg) and go to bed and it felt amazing being in bed sleeping and super warm.

Do they have you jumping through hoops to get your methadone? I've never understood why they make it so much more difficult to get well than to get sick.

As a recreational opioid? Not so much.

As a functional tool? Absolutely brilliant stuff.

I've never understood why they make it so much more difficult to get well than to get sick.

Good fucking question. It's something I've lamented over many times.

Excellent point, I've wondered that myself. But yeah, it's way more regulated than it need be; the clinic I go to, to get to where you have monthly take homes - i.e. a normal prescription - you have to be fully compliant, not even popping a piss test for weed lol, for 4 YEARS. Like what, I didn't even plan of being on maintenence for 4 years lol. Never going to be an option for me anyway because I smoke the hell outta some weed, but I'm hoping to get in at another place (appointment in 2 weeks, been waiting 3 months) where they circumvent the mandatory daily dosing laws for MAT by writing scripts of methadone for pain, dispensing a week's worth in pills at a time. Still not perfect, but it beats running across town everyday for a squirt of syrup.

Which state is this in? Where they don’t allow weed to get monthly.

No offense and I’m not innocent because I’m a drugs addict but my doctor has no idea I’m a drug addict. I get 300 mg of methadone per month for chronic pain. My doctor can’t go higher or he will go to jail.

I find it fucked up that people taking my full monthly prescription PER DAY that are drug addicts can get these high doses and me being an allegedly innocent pain patient can’t even get more than 10 mg per day

I’ve told my doctor if it ever gets worse I’ll have to go to an addict methadone clinic and he’s like yes probably so…that sucks but I’m at my limit with you legally (he also gives me benzos)

I like buprenorphine a fair bit. very cheap where I live and easy to get, and I usually have a small stockpile of it on hand for whenever I binge some other opioid and come down the next day with slight withdrawls. Less is more, and snorting 0.5 and plugging anywhere from 0.5 to 0.7 as well helps hold me for a while.
If you're opioid tolerant, buprenorphine doesn't have that great rush or euphoria compared to other opioids, especially ones like Heroin, Hydromorphone, Oxycodone etc. but it gets the job done and can still provide a nice buzz especially when plugged or injected (though I don't inject subs anymore and shooting pills is never a good idea, even with a micron filter).
I can't speak for the Butrans patch, never used it or known anyone personally who does or has. I know some people who use it only for pain and they say that it does help a fair bit but not every day and there are still bad days like you said.
edit: what I do really like about buprenorphine is how long it lasts, I forgot to add that fact. It makes it all the more easy to use on the few days after a binge of other opioids (usually Heroin) as I can take doses I mentioned, be good for 24-30 hours and then redose but cut the dose down by a little every 1-2 days (depending how fast I want to be off it) and then thats that.
It's like an economy mode opioid for me if that makes sense.

I find it more recreational than methadone. It’s decent.
You find bupe more recreational than methadone? In what ways, I'm just curious.

This shit pisses me off.
I saw that one of the 3 letter agencies dictating our lives wants to cut opioid manufacturing again soon, making it even harder for people to access opioids. This is a straight up war on citizens & people need to start getting pissed.

I'm sorry this is happening to you! Be warned though, if you were to switch to a methadone clinic, you'd have to go take your meds AT the clinic every day for however long they wanna make you, until they "trust you" & then you might get some weekend take homes. Which I think is arbitrary bullshit & is the only thing stopping me from switching from subs to methadone.

Bupe is a total snoozefest IMO.
In both the literal & figurative sense.

I find it to be a rather heavy, sedating opioid. With none of the euphoria or good parts of an actual opioid. It constricts the hell out of my pupils, even more so than some other opioids.

People with low to no tolerance are gonna find pretty much any opioid enjoyable for the most part. So yeah, bupe is alright in that case. But I think it is really subjective. People with no to low tolerance need to be VERY CAREFUL dosing with bupe too. It's almost TOO potent for an opioid naive individual to be messing with. It literally is on par with fentanyl as far as potency goes (potency does not equal effects though, just for those who are confused).

So just a little bit of bupe for a non-tolerant person could send them into 12-24hrs of nods & puking their guts out.

The "nods" on bupe don't feel like the blissful, content & peaceful nods you get with heroin or something. They feel more like a "holy shit I need to lay down & close my eyes right now", like I've just taken 2 benadryl & drank 6 beers or something-type of "nods". Not very enjoyable & even bothersome in some cases. That's even if you get them at all, which even after 8 years of use, I still have days where it makes me incredibly sedated & drowsy & I have to lay down & "rest my eyes" in order to get it to go away.

I prefer the itchy, content & warm feeling of other opioids. But bupe does have it's place as a tool just like any other medicine.

If I had no tolerance though & was offered 10mg of hydrocodone or 2mg of subs, I'd probably go with the subs.

Bupe to me is my favourite when i want to get of H or other Prescription opioids. Plus i find it too be alot better then methadone im on now us we have a shortage of subutex currently in my country, reason im on methadone.

Also want to add when snorting bupe it gives a rush and good energy to take the day on. plus this can be done on very low dosages of Bupe. The lowest dosage of bupe i was on, was 500mcg and that was enough to get me through a 24hr day with out having wd's. The only thing i still get from time to time is RLS when i was on Bupe but then was also on seroquel which i believe had something to do with causing it.

But long story short, bupe is the best maintenance med in my personal opinion.

excellent
While methadone is a longtime friend; to be counted on.
But brutal when ignored.
Here in Oregon my pain doc can give me 40mgs/day but they took away his benzos.
My PCP will be taking over; and my pain doc thinks he could script me my 20mgs/day done
but I know he won't thinks the pain is in my head; I have no thirty year relationship with him.
I wonder if in california or even Oregon if I went to a methadone clinic if I could still retain my benzo rx. or pregabalin. pretty sure weed is fine
