Awhile back, I was watering plants at a friend's house while he and his family are out of town. I noticed a small dime bag of white powder in the bathroom drawer. I tasted a tiny bit and it was bitter, so I knew it was a drug - at the time I figured it would be either heroin or coke (both of which I know my friend has done, and done with me). I (stupidly in retrospect) cooked up a relatively small amount of the powder in a spoon with water. It dissolved quite easily. Then I shot it right into a vein.

What happened next was one of the scariest experiences of my life. Almost immediately, I could tell that something was VERY wrong. I plunged into a state of extreme panic and disorientation/dizziness so profound, I fell slowly to the floor and writhed on the ground. I remember thinking: "Oh my God, this is it. I'm dying...this is my last conscious experience. This certainly is not H or coke, so I either shot up poison, or an unknown drug that I just overdosed and am going to die with." I was so dizzy, everything was spinning, but in a much more intense and different way than the spins you get from alcohol. My heart rate was blazing fast of course, and everything seemed to be fading and turning white. I'm not sure if I lost consciousness or not; I don't really remember much after that, except that I stayed on the floor for about ten minutes trying to calm myself down, and wait for it to pass. I knew I couldn't get up, and that I would just make it worse than I did. I think these effects passed relatively quickly because I remember slowly getting better - more alert and aware with less dizziness after maybe 10-15 minutes or so. I sank into the couch in the living room for awhile to wait the remaining effects off, and after an hour or so had passed, I felt calmer and better enough to drive.

To this day, this was traumatic and easily the scariest experience of my life. It was obviously an incredibly stupid thing to IV an unknown substance of any kind, let alone without knowing how much an overdose would be. I only used a relatively small pinch or two of the powder though, and as I said, it was definitely hidden in a drawer in a tiny baggie used for drugs. I still am not sure what it was, although after I had time to process it later, I remembered that he had previously experimented with, and likely still possessed, ketamine. I had done it prior to this as well, but only in tiny insufflations which resembled a mild to moderate nitrous oxide high. I should have known that it wouldn't have been coke or heroin since he would not have had any extra lying around.

I know ketamine can cause intense dissociation, but is it possible and/or likely that this drug was in fact ketamine, only I didn't inject enough for full blown delirium/dissociation but enough for very pronounced and unexpected effects? If not, I am very curious if anybody knows what else this could possibly have been from my description. I've tried many different drugs, but never experienced anything like this.
