...feel that they kind of "wasted" the trips that they've had?

What I mean is, I had 50+ trips on LSD and mushrooms between the ages of 14 and 18/19. I'm 36 now so haven't tripped for 17 or 18 years.

Whilst I enjoyed EVERY single trip I had immensely, I feel that I was maybe too young (and some of the blotters I ate when I was 14/15yrs old were mindblowingly potent) and naive to fully appreciate what I was experiencing.

I'm sure I'd get a lot more out of those trips now but I don't have any plans to trip again in the future and in all probability never will again.

Does anyone else feel similar or look back on their tripping past with some regret in this way?

Coming in from the opposite direction: I do feel lucky that I only started with psychedelics at a later age. I believe that if I had tried these things as a kid, without the knowledge and maturity that I have now, it would have skewed me in a relatively bad direction. On the flip side, trying them for the first time as an adult has made me feel extremely thankful for them.

im waiting till im older to try anyone phsychadelic except shrooms because of this reason, i dont think my mind is ready and i wont apprecate it as much or it could stear me in the wrong direction

I took my first large LSD dose at 14, with my older brother who was a great guide, and I had an amazing experience. When people wait until they're older, they are more set in their ways, more sarcastic towards everything, and the ego is usually devastatingly developed. When you are young, you are more open, less set in your ways, and can flow with the trip with ease. The only thing is that if you trip when you are young, you need someone who understands what tripping is, and its importance to help you understand what you are embarking on before you dive head first into psychedelics.

Yea, I'm not sure I agree with the steering you in the wrong or a bad direction thing if you take LSD at 14, I didn't experience anything like that personally.

It steered me in a fantastic direction, I've no doubts of that now that I'm older. I just wish I'd have been more mature mentally when first tripping so I could have taken something much more deep and meaningful from the experience.

I also didn't have an experienced, older tripper with me a lot of the time, just similar aged mates who were as inexperienced as me regards LSD at that time.

Oh and I'm not advocated 14yr olds taking acid here. I did it and it worked out just fine but it's not something I'd recommend for all 14yrs whatsoever.

A few months ago I took my first acid trip ( I'm 14 ) and it was an intensely spiritual and beneficial experience for me. It provided somewhat of a rebirth experience and helped me appreciate my mere existence which greatly increased my quality of life. I received many revelations from the trip, such as realizing that I am just as confused about my identity and what I want to do with my life as any other kids. In other words, I got rid of this false sense of superiority I was retaining. I like to think I'm slightly more matured and thoughtful than some of the kids my age, and I was very educated on the drug itself, so it turned out quite well for me and i'm glad i took the risk. I know, being 14 years old, i'm in no position to make a judgement call on this, but I believe that if the individual is very well educated on the drug and knows how to use it as responsible as you can, then it can be a very beneficial experience.
