Does AMT still work if left sealed for over a month???

My fiancee and I had some AMT, we kept what was left of it in 3 capsules sealed in a baggy in a cupboard. It was left there for like.... 3 weeks to a month? And when taken, we were just waiting for hours for something to happe, but it didn't. The doses were around 25-30mgs eyeballed... let me know :)
 
Does it or did it smell like asscheese? Smelly aMT is usually freebase while fresh HCl product isn't that stinky, I'd say. And freebase can indeed degrade significantly faster but I don't know how fast. A month doesn't seem like enough at all to degrade sealed product, even freebase. Have you taken it and felt effect from the same batch before?

Also, eyeballing is no good. Get a scale, they are quite cheap. We have a huge thread on it that should offer all info you will need.

The main question: does aMT still work after leaving it sealed for a month... well my answer is: it depends on the storage conditions. If hot enough then possibly but under normal circumstances like you describe, it shouldn't. I would suspect this stuff you have.

Well yeah it worked and we tripped nicely from the same batch and supplier.. im not sure how it smelled, I guess it didnt smell? It was yellowy/off white colour and I guess that makes it freebase. I dont know what happened there but we felt the littlest bit but that could of easily easily been placebo. As it was eyeballed it might have been way under the doses althought we split it reasonably evenly and all the other caps worked, just the onces that were left didn't. Maybe the caps wernt a good idea to store it inside as we just emptied out the contents of the caps and immediatly put the aMT in afterwards. who knows!

I've stored freebase AMT in similar conditions for at least as long and noticed no difference in potency. I've also stored HCl AMT in similar conditions for at least as long and noticed no difference in potency.

Also if it's yellow/off-white and doesn't smell, it's probably HCl. Freebase smells exactly like asschesse, as Solipsis said :)
 
I stored a baggie of freebase for months as well, turned sticky, yellow and even more smelly and tbh it was not appetizing to use anymore, especially if you also have the HCl salt and it wasn't a large quantity. :)
 
I keep my aMT in a baggie at room temperature and the potency is just fine. It may just be your individual sensitivity to dose. I did notice that keeping a few veg capsules of aMT out of the baggie drew moisture in and changed the appearance of the aMT. But the potency should be relatively unaffected.

Also, I aMT doesn't smell anything like you're all describing, and it's certainly not that overpowering. My aMT only has a slight odour. Sure it's present, but it's not nearly as dominating as all that. It actually smells more like old people's homes. It's the unreacted indoles, probably including trace amounts of 3-methylindole.
 
Yes the skatole is often blamed for the smell. But I really wouldn't know if freebase AMT smells worse because there is freebase skatole or other freebase non-AMT indoles that smell more than the skatole and other indole salts do... Or if AMT freebase itself is pungent.

If it doesn't smell that bad to you, is it the HCl salt? Because that doesn't stink to me either. I think the HCl salt can be smoked but I'm not sure if it burns up in a nasty way.

Thanks for coming back and posting. All too often posters will ask a large question that everyone will wonder what the outcome would be only to have the post abandoned. I appreciate it. Now I wonder what would happen if it was a year or two later and what the outcome would be. %)

The freebase aMT I had was how Survived described, it did have that typical indole smell but it wasn't overpowering. The smell wasn't so bad unless I got really close to the powder. The taste bothered me more than the smell, its probably the worst thing I've tasted in my entire life. It's not so bad at first, but try tasting some while you're already coming up and nauseous.. not nice, not nice at all.

What was the temperature in the cupboard like? How well were the capsules sealed?

I think the conditions would have to have been pretty bad for it to degrade so much in a month. Me and my friend had a baggy of aMT freebase half open by a gas fireplace that was turned on for pretty much an entire day, which considering the impact heat can have on freebase tryptamines sounds really bad - but the potency seemed the same.

I think a month in room temperature well-sealed shouldn't have caused any problems.
 
I kept my AMT freebase for a year sealed in capsules, double baggy, no light and room temp and it was completely fine, felt even stronger than before
 
yeah well my tolerence might have gone up like fuck as i went through like a 2month period of taking it every weekend often during the week too

Strange I thought I already replied to this, apparently not.

I suspect that may be the culprit, along with some (but not as severe as you suggested) degradation. Tripping every week for two months will significantly raise your tolerance, especially to the psychological effects of a psychedelic that give its unique twist and magic. Combined with the fact that aMT is a serotonin-releaser (and we all know how quickly tolerance builds with those) makes me think that after 2 months of such dosing your tolerance to the effects would be pretty high and you'd probably get quite a mediocre experience after that time.

That combined with some degradation, and inaccurate eyeballing, could have simply meant you did not take enough for your tolerance.

Please get yourself a scale, you cannot accurately dose such a tiny amount by eye. Even such a difference as 30mg and 50mg can sometimes be hard to tell by eye, and with these super-potent drugs it's not something you want to mess up.

If you really are unwilling to use a scale, use Liquid Measurement - just remember liquid measurement is only accurate if you know the total amount of powder you're putting into solution, so unless you know for certain that your vendor always supplies you dead on weight and never a little under or over, borrow a scale to weigh up the initial total, then you can put it into solution and not need a scale for the rest of your dosing.
