Does amphetamine allow you to run faster?

I'm a a bit of an amatuer runner but I also use recreational drugs. I wanted to know if amphetamines would help me maintain a higher heart rate for a run and thus be able to run faster? I know that speed makes my heart faster but not as fast as when I am running. Would speed make my heart faster still?

Thanks

It does seem like putting excessive stress on the heart, which would be exhausting, but for an occasional 5km race I'm assuming it would be OK.

I'm pretty sure that amphetamines won't make you run faster, but at least for me they boost my endurance somewhat.

It will give you some performance enhancement yes, some athletes have been known to take it before games. As far as safety goes it probably isn't gonna kill you to do it once in a while but dont make a habit out of it, you can damage your heart, not to mention get so dependent on them you won't be able to run sober anymore.

It won't make you any stronger but will make your endurance go up a shitload. I heard of this mix of drugs with heroin, amphetamines and a mix of steroids to help bikers in France during a race. But I would advise against it. Your heart will thank you

It will make you feeling energized but on the other hand it will eventually wear you out. A mix could work. IMO, Steroids can make you do that more efficiently though.

It depends on how much you're talking, whether it's a good idea or not. Too much amphetamine combined with strenuous physical activity will put major stress on your heart, so whatever gains you're getting by shaving seconds or minutes off your time is probably not worth the physical damage you're doing to your body. Remember, it's the only one you get.

QFT
uppers tend to make my heart race
I have tried jogging on meth, but sometimes my heart begins to feel overly taxed, and I end up having to take more breaks
However, the day after using meth, my heart often feels stressed, and a jog or swim helps to smooth things out.

I have tried playing hockey (goalie) on adderall and it has helped with focus, but in the intense moments of the game my heart starts racing (A LOT). I would not suggest running on amphetamines. Low doses may be ok, as it can increase endurance, but I wouldn't think it makes you run noticeably faster.

Mixing strong stimulants like amphetamines with exercise isn't a good idea in general. In the short term it will indeed increase your performance, assuming you don't use too much. But it does increase blood pressure and heart rate further, and so places additional stress on the heart, which can be dangerous. Regular use of stimulants can cause permanent stiffening of the blood vessels in your body, which then further increases the pressure needed to pump blood around the muscles. And they can also cause the development of a variety of maladies including fibrosis and the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, both in the heart and other arteries, which in the long-term can lead to cardiovascular issues, atrial fibrillation, clots that lead to strokes and thrombosis, enlargement of the heart ventricles, damage to heart valves, and ultimately heart failure. Of note, some sudden deaths among athletes have been attributed to abuse of stimulants like ephedrine, caffeine and amphetamines.

An acquaintance of mine in high school died on the treadmill using ephedrine ;x. Star baseball player at 16, very sad indeed.

Yes. You can run faster and longer, until you die. Don't.

Like JahSEEuS said, use a low dose if you're gonna do this, otherwise your heart will start hurting during your run.
