On two occasions I took 400mg of butalbital and when I took the version with less Tylenol I felt dizzy and weird and when I took the version with more Tylenol I didn't. Maybe it's a tolerance issue but when I took this dose the first time I had been taking 100-159mg/day for probaly at least a month (?). Does Tylenol interfer with the actions of barbiturates (it seemed to on some other occasions too)? Or maybe there was some difference taking the dose with less Tylenol in the evening and the other in the morning?

Does anyone have information on this? And do any countries have straight butalbital?

It shouldn't interfere with either metabolism or absorbtion.

The only barbiturates that are actively Rxed in the USA any more are phenobarbital for epilepsy and butalbital in Fiorecet. Pentothal is used for IV sedation too.

^ are those really the only ones left for doctors to prescribe? or is it just really rare to be scripted different ones? but could be in an odd situation? im just curious.

EDIT: Nevermind i found a list of what are still available (but rarely used) in the US.. if anyone is interested for any reason they are:

NSFW:
Amobarbital (Sodium Amytal; hypnotic)
Aprobarbital (hypnotic)
Butabarbital (hypnotic)
Butalbital (Fiorinal; sedative)
Hexobarbital (Sombulex; hypnotic/anesthetic)
Mephobarbital (antianxiety)
Pentobarbital (Nembutal; hypnotic)
Phenobarbital (Luminal; hypnotic, sedative, anticonvulsant)
Secobarbital (Seconal; hypnotic)
Sodium thiopental
Talbutal (Lotusate; hypnotic)
Thiobarbital (anesthetic)
