Hi, I'm just a bit confused about what my doctor's office is wanting to do, can someone explain the logic behind this or tell me if it's a mistake? It's a bit of a long story I'll explain below, but basically, I needed to pick up script 2 days early so I could leave town to see a family member in the hospital, which the office approved, but said at my next visit they would have to cut next month's script short by 2 or 3, even though my next appointment date hasn't changed. Can someone explain why? Full story below.
I've been in recovery for a few years, no relapses, I work in the recovery field, have had a good relationship with this doctor for 13 years. It's a small office I go to, with just my doc, the office manager, and a therapist. So my last appointment was on Halloween, and I go every 28 days, meaning my next appointment would have been on Thanksgiving. The office was going to be closed all week this week, so what they did was give me a script for 27 days and instead of me going in on the day before Thanksgiving, they would have a script on file to last me from the day before Thanksgiving to Dec 5th, so 8 days. But then this thing with my husband's aunt came up, and I called to see if I could pick my script up today instead of Wed, so 2 days early. I know the pharmacy requires approval for this kind of thing, and the office manager was happy to make it happen, but said when I came in next, she would have to have the doctor short my script for next month by 2 or 3. I was flustered by the news about my husband's aunt so I didn't ask about it at the time, but then I thought about it and got confused as to why me going out of town would change how much meds I would need for next month? Anyway, I went to pick up my script earlier, and it's only a script for 7. So for the 35 days between my last appointment, and next appointment, I've been given 34 strips, which is fine, 1 isn't a big deal, but they also want to cut me short next month? Is this a mess up by the office manager, or am I not understanding something? I'm not going to my appointment early, I just picked the meds up so I would have them when I ran out in a couple days while out of town. They have accidentally shorted me before in a similar situation so I'm wondering if that's happening again here or if I'm just missing something.
