Opioids Doc Didn't Send Script/Methadone w/d's

Hey guys. I have to have my pm doc fed ex me my script for methadone b/c he is in another town. I need a refill tomorrow & was supposed to get my script today. Didn't come. I've unfortunately had this problem w/ them in the past back when I was on oxy. Ok, so now I am going to have to wait until at least Monday before I can fill my script. I take anywhere from 20 - 50 mg/day.

I have immodium & my lyrica script & that's about it to help me. I wouldn't know where to even go to try to buy anything to get me by, so I have no benzos or any other means of obtaining anything.

Can you all help w/ how to get through the weekend at least somewhat comfortably? I have my 7 yr old's bday party to take care of tomorrow & cannot be sick!!

Ok, thanks! I'll keep the water coming! It's just so frustrating! I guess I'll just drive up there on Monday & get it unless it's in transit somewhere & then I'll just have to wait for it since they can't duplicate. Anyway, thanks again. I'm going to try to go to bed now & see if I can sleep. I have some OTC sleep meds I'll try w/ the immodium & lyrica.
 
yeah loperamide should ease any withdrawls :-)
when was your last dose? methadone has a huge half life, so you may not
experience any withdrawls for 1-2 days.

are you able to purchase OTC codeine products where you live? Then you
could do a quick CWE. good luck!
 
The heebie jeebies (RLS, I Guess) are driving me mad!! I kept waking up last night & kept having to take more immodium. I'm afraid I'm going to get horribly constipated! Is there anything else I can be doing?

I don't have access to codeine. Ok, my last dose was actually on Wednesday b/c I had run out a few days early. I had some kratom for a few days though that helped me, but now I'm out of the kratom b/c I was expecting my script to get here.
 
You could try hitting up your local ER if it gets really bad, if you bring some documintation they may be able to write you something to get you through to Monday.
 
I'd expect an ER to be of help here, too, even without documentation if you tell them the story and aren't a known customer. :D Otherwise, you've pretty much done all you can do with the Loperamide if you don't have access to a benzo. You could probably check up on a neighbour for a benzo and tell them you can't sleep, almost every other household keeps a pack around these days after all. I wouldn't do any exercising though before wd's are hitting you. Might contribute to the lingering opioids in your bloodstream being metabolized a tad faster, eventhough I can't guarantee that's the case I'd take it slow. Got my fingers crossed for you and that bd party! :)
 
Don't worry about being constipated, my dear!

Do you have a head shop close by? They may sell Kratom (hopefully a quality source). Kratom binds to the same receptors as opiates, and has been used for a long time to ease W/Ds and even feel euphoric. It is totally legal. But do your own research on it, online. Kratom is a plant, btw, not some freaky-deaky synthetic chemical.
 
He actually said he had been using Kratom already for a few days after he ran out of Methadone. :D Other than that, brilliant idea! :)
 
Unfortunately, I live in a very small town. No head shops that I know of & like I initially said, I have no idea how or where to even try to get anything off the streets.

Anyway, I'm surviving. I just need to get to tomorrow so I can figure out where my script is!
 
Thanks for checking on me :) It's now Monday & I actually have another couple of hours before my doc opens. I'll call them right away & figure out where my script is. If it's still sitting in their office, I'll just drive the hour & 1/2 to get it & get it filled.

Hopefully it isn't lost in la la land b/c when this happened before & he had just put it in the drop box late that day, I had to wait another day to get it b/c they can't have one script outstanding & write another.

I'm hopeful though that it is most likely just still in their office & I'll be able to pick it up this morning.

At least I made it through the weekend!! I didn't get much done around the house, but I'm still alive & so are my 3 boys :)
 
Dude seriously, they have got to offer another solution. You can't just not give your patient the chance to get his medication, that's absurd. I'd sit down with them and explain what happens when you run out and I'm sure they'll offer you some sort of security. Might as well just be a phone call at the pharmacy or another doctor who can issue a script or whatever, but an 80yr old lady won't live without her betablockers just like you will feel like utter crap without your methadone. They can't have all patients visit the ER in such cases...
I'd really try sorting it out and prevent this from happening again if it wasn't the first time. Must be hellish to care for your kids while in withdrawls, I got a 2yr old daughter myself. :)
 
The problem is that methadone is a scheduled drug here & that means I HAVE to have the actual paper script in hand. They can't call it in or fax it to the pharmacy. I think from now on I will just drive up there & pick it up every month instead of having it fed ex'!

Ok, the saga ends here. Mr. Fed Ex just showed up at the house at precisely the time I was going to call the doc. They didn't send it out until Friday, so I didn't get it until today!

Off to Walgreen's w/ 3 boys in tow!!

Ok, got my script. Will make sure this doesn't happen again! I figure I didn't neglect the boys or the dogs this weekend, so I did pretty well!

Also glad to see everything went well was watching this thread too did you ever end up having to go to the er or anything?
