I'm not trying to be all conspiracy theory but I have noticed major differences between different manufacturers of generic drugs and also brand name drugs. For example at one pharmacy I pick up mt generic xanax because the one my regular pharmacy uses does not work. My regular pharmacy has a better generic sonata. Its even a toss up with my generic add meds. Why is this? If the generics are supposed to contain the same active ingredients why does there seem to be such variables in how well they wok? Unless its just me and my body but I'm not so sure I believe that. Does the government not care or have loose requirements? Unless I'm just nuts and its all in my head. Does anyone else experience this?

First off, BDD is a worldwide community so your government (and mine) is not the government of everyone who reads this. Secondly, please have a look at the forum guidelines before posting again...

No 'generic v. branded prescription drug' threads. The only significant differences are few and far between.

The FDA has some of the tightest regulations in the world so essentially the only differences are the inactive ingredients (binders, fillers, etc.) which will have a very marginal impact on the effects (rate of absorption, etc.) at most.

The fact that you've experienced this with a variety of different drugs made by different manufacturers lends credibility to idea that its in your head. The problem with conspiracy theories is that generally a theory is created independently of the evidence and then only the evidence that supports the theory are considered relevant.

For what you're claiming to be true, thousands and thousands of people have to be 'in on it' ensuring that there are no leaks by government agencies, pharmaceuticals companies and if this were a real phenomenon, it'd have to evident to pharmacists, doctors and patients and somehow still remain completely hidden because there's no substantiation of this happening on any scale.

Do you see how this doesn't make sense? People often underestimate how powerful their mind-state and expectations can have on the physiological response they have to substances. The placebo and nocebo effects demonstrate this and even when you're given an active drug, what you believe (consciously or subconsciously) is going to influence the effects it has on you.

PM me if you have any questions but I have to close this.
