Do you think plants have spirits?

I've had a telepathic conversation with a tree that went on for a couple of hours while on a high-dose of an ayahuasca brew consisting of Diplopterys cabrerana, Banisteriopsis caapi an Brunfelsia Grandiflora.
But I'm not too sure how serious we're meant to take that. :D

If you watch timelapse videos, the way plants grow, look as if they have some sort of "intelligent design" .. How they REACH towards the sun , it is quite amazing. They just move a lot slower than us =)

^ The "movement" your referring to is also called "growth". They grow towards the sun which they use to photosynthesise food. Plants aren't making a decision to do that.
But either way, that sort of behaviour doesn't mean that plants do or don't have spirits. My idea of spirit is almost synonomous with existence, and plants exist.

I am not sure if plants have a spirit. Definitely a life force though. I do believe there are 'spirits' that take care of plants, lands, etc. and help to direct/nurture the life force.

in the way i use that word, plants do have spirits, thats why they are alive, the spirits is the light, it comes from the sun, its called energy, everything has energy including dead stuff, matter has spirits, electrons keeps moving around...
spirit is a quality of motion
and as someone said:
there is a difference between the two
imo soul is a quality of spirit, you need a inner life for that, but you dont need to associate soul with the afterlife, afterlife is another concept
maybe you are not a big fan of symbolism then : (
symbolism is about representing something via symbols
like right now im using letters of the alphabet, they all represent a sound, and different sounds represent different stuff, different meaning...
meaning is something that connects us with something
that something being a sense of direction
we came from the relationship between a rock and a star, the earth and the sun, and if i use symbolism i could also say from male and female energy, father sun and his sperm rays impregnated mother earth and thats how baby life came to be
sun gave spirit to matter, energy gave (gives) motion to matter
thats the usual creation myth, its always expresses in different ways but the symbolism behind it all always goes back to our billions and billions of years of being droplets of water going up and down towards the sun
thats how life on earth came to be, thats where we came from, thats what we relate to via symbolism
spirit is a term we made up back in the days of animism where we would see spirit in everything, well the term came later on but the experience or the idea behind the term came from our past where we started to self reflect, where we started to explore consciousness, at time where we started to bury our dead
animism and shamanism is where it all started for us, thats before religion and science, its right there at the begining of human culture, of human history, before we started to write it down
shamanism was a practice connecting us with it all on a deeper level while animism simply was how we saw the world, how we experienced the world back then

the sun is the reason for everything happening on earth
even when the earth was a rock it still was spiraling around towards the sun because the sun was running around the galaxy
that motion, that dynamic polarized the earth into ever more complex motion due to that transfer of energy
that energy is the spirit im talking about, its what made it possible for matter to start moving around on that rock and create all of what we have now
when the plants died all that energy that has being accumulated goes back to the earth to be re-utilized again and again
when someone die we say his spirit is alive within us because that quality of motion, those actions he did that made him him is now entertain within our memories of him so his spirit lives on even tho he himself is dead, or at least his body is (if you want to see that as a afterlife or if you want to imagine a parallel universe where that spirit would go well thats another story)
spirit doesnt have to mean much and as ebola said the term can loose its usefulness since a lot as being attached to the concept (for better and-or worse) to a point where it can be easier to use other term, usually a more scientific one
(but then ebola might be more of a modernist interested in more rationalist inquiry than delving into old days symbolism, for the sake of writing evocative poetry ; ) )

we have so much of our vocabulary that is in relation of that past

we say stuff like feeling up, feeling down, having no energy, being enlighten, being bright, brilliant idea, the enlightenment, the dark age, god is the light, may your heart be light, your darkest days, heavy heart, lifting your spirit up, being excited, being high, depression, never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...
about 75 % of our body weight is water as babies and as adult it gets around 57%

I don't think that this is quite it. I think that all meaning, in some sense, anchors itself via metaphorical extension. However, you are correct in that my speech often extends toward stark precision.
I guess my issue, here, is that when people use "spirit" in the present context, they tend not to point to a general animating principle set in semantic relation to the universe writ large. Instead, the term often brackets and obscures key puzzles of consciousness. However, that I don't find the concept personally useful does not entail that it's somehow invalid or worthless.
