On my way home from work,
I see the sign for your town.
Are you there?
Are you lying in bed somewhere,
Alone and by yourself?
Thinking of me?
Wondering if I made it home safe?
Are you clutching your pillow,
Wishing it was me?
I get home,
Throw my purse aside.
I lie on my bed
And think about you.
Your hair,
Your beautiful eyes,
Your silly smile.
Everything about you I love.
I stare at the ceiling,
Wishing you would float from the heavens
And lie down next to me.
My eyes flutter shut
As I drift off to sleep,
Dreaming of only you.
Dreaming you were next to me,
Kissing my lonely tears away.
Keeping me safe as the night progresses,
Only to wake up,
And find you gone.
