At that point in the war, it was more about efficiency than anything else. The Japanese military couldn't really defend their airspace and the US was doing similar amounts of damage with mass bombing raids.

Yeah, I mean look, people can say " oh the USA was irresponsible for using two nuclear weapons" all they want. The bottom line is, another country had declared war on us, largely unprovoked, and we were at war.

If I'm in a fight wit someone, and I can knock them out in in one punch, that's what I'm going to do. I know that's not a great analogy, but it stresses the point.

It's a shame we had to go to war at all, and innocent people lost their lives. But I'm tired if the argument honestly. The real question here is: would Iran use a nuclear weapon, only if their sovereignty was threatened, and not to expand their territory or under some sort of idealism.
