Stimulants Do You Think Adderall Could Cause Nerve Damage?

Have you tried supplementing magnesium? When you said muscle spasm, I suspected you meant fasciculations (which are quite different) and these can be caused by both magnesium deficiency and anxiety.

The vast majority of the time, fasciculations are benign but if you are concerned, you should consult a neurologist and insist on having more serious causes ruled out.

Would it make anymore sense if I were to mention the fact that when I took said pills I was in a really dark place and thought that by taking the pills it would end my misery, in other words, a possible lame suicide attempt.

Being depressed as fuck and taking 100mg of amps on top of it couldn't be a good combo, eh?

In one of my above responses I mentioned that I thought I was 'smarter than that'...truth be told, I didn't even realize that I was taking amphetamine until a few days after the fact. This chick gave 'em to me and told me they'd 'pep me up' and pull me out of the depressed stupor I was in.

Guess maybe I'm not all that smart after all. I mean, who in the hell takes 100mg of something they don't even know what is? The girl just told me they would give me the same effects as cocaine so I was game for it.

I've seen a Neurologist, had an MRI done and the results came back negative. Guess I'll keep on searching things out. I even had a few blood tests run and they came back 'all good' as well.

Have ever seen any psych professionals for evaluation or treatment? You've demonstrated clear signs of anxiety and mentioned depression and at very minimum, these can make physical problems worse and could possibly explain pretty much everything you're experiencing.

Needing help to deal with things like this doesn't make you crazy or weak, it makes you human and if you want things to improve, I would highly suggest pursuing this.

Adderall fucks with your head. Probably most of what you're feeling is because of the drug's effects and how you feel after. It really drains your head out. Don't worry about it, eat healthy and move around, just try to feel good, and you'll be fine sooner than you know it :D

It's been mentioned to me several times by both my mother and my peers, to check out some psych help. I just can't believe that this could all be manifesting from anxiety and depression. It just seems that everything, with the exception of the depression, was going pretty darn good for me, health wise, until I took those darn pills.

I imagine I'll give it a shot, though I was seeing a shrink right before and even after I took the pills and he was even insistant that there was NO WAY the Adderall could o all of this to me.

I always thought of anxiety as having a racing heart, which I used to get when I was younger, and lots of sweating, which as I mentioned, I don't do at all anymore.

if you really want to be safe and prove your theory that it is hypo or hyperthyroidism just go to an endocrinologist, a naturopath (not one of those quack ones, it's hard to find good naturopaths 99.99% are quacks) and if none of that is wrong you just might be paranoid as fuck and adderall may not be for you. so far your shrink says it is not causing that, but he has been wrong before i'm sure, though it is his job so don't discount what he says right away. i doubt that you have nerve damage or are neurotoxic. i have a family member who takes large amounts of adderall (off label) and has a near dead thyroid and is living healthily through strict diet and very regular exercise. adderall though will eventually get you neurotoxic. so it is better to stay off of it. this is coming from someone prescribed 240 10mg it's monthly. my doctor told me to do my research and I did. i only take it when necessary now. http://www.orthomolecular.org/library/jom/2002/pdf/2002-v17n03-p141.pdf i just googled this and linkjacked, didn't read it but it might be interesting for you to read and try to draw your own conclusions.

At the end of the day, no one really knows what's going on. Unless we actually perform trials on humans it's hard to extrapolate from animal toxicity studies.

I've read through your stated symptoms and you really need to see a neurologist (depending on your insurance situation, you might require a referral from a general practitioner first.)

There is almost no way that the adderall could be responsible for your symptoms (inability to sweat, impotence, etc) which are consistent with peripheral neuropathy (specifically, autonomic peripheral neuropathy.) This condition can have a variety of causes (everything from mineral deficiencies to autoimmune disorders), making it essential to see a doctor and get checked out.

Since you mentioned a high tolerance to alcohol, I also wanted to say that this type of neuropathy can also be associated with alcohol abuse, usually in the long term. What are your drinking habits like?

I'm going to agree with Cane2theLeft on this one, I seriously doubt your one time high dosage experience caused any damage at all.

Even if it did cause any damage, I doubt even more that the damage was long-term.

Normally amphetamine use on its own has relatively light neurotoxicity. A large dosage like that probably did do damage, I just don't think it's going to be all that noticeable.

If anything, he probably pushed his tolerance up a bit, that would be the only noticeable thing about it IME.

I drink socially but not often. Weird thing is, I've tried drinking latley and can't seem to get even the slightest buzz. I imagine it has something to do with the 'nerve' situation I seem to be having. Dammit.
