Do you talk about your drug escapades to friends that don't use?

Like.. do you tell them how you did lsd or k or whatever and say how great it was.

Or on facebook or myspace talk about it at all? I know I never really see anything about it on myspace or facebook, even though I know people do drugs still.
And I only talk about drug use with those who use... because people look at you all crazy if you say something about drugs. It's sad tbh.

I dont, not with friends who have never used. Simply cause they wont understand. Im pretty open about my drugs use with my friends but people who havent used drugs cant really understand or appreciate the stories. Sometimes I can substitute "being drunk" when I was actually high but other times it doesnt work. It is a bit sad you cant share it with them but I guess you dont share everything with everyone!

If it comes up in conversation, sure. But most of them aren't too interested.

I only share what my non-user friends will relate to. That being mainly alcohol and maybe pot. As for other things like ecstasy and lsd I only talk about those things with people who have also used them or something just as "hard".

If your friends are real friends, they won't care and will be open to the fact that you use.
Hell, they will even use you as a really quick reference to know how drugs work.

Yeah my true friends that don't use like I do....i will tell em about it if they ask...but i don't go bragging about it cuz they aren't incredibly interested. but most all of them tried drugs with me for the first time and they always ask me if they have a question about drugs. Basically what psychedelic jay said.

It only comes up of a friend is curious about a drug. In such a case I will respond with valuable information, as I have experience w/ many drugs. Do I reveal that I have 'personal experience' with these drugs? No, not necessarily. It depends on whether or not I believe this friend with judge me for my use.

Generally I prefer to talk w/ my fellow drug addicted friends about drugs, and not w/ my clean friends. I almost feel guilty doing so.

Yes, but only because we did hella drugs together back in the day. he quit everything but still my best bud..and lol i still see the sparkle in his eye when i mention coke or ice.

It depends on the person, but generally no, I keep those worlds separate. I have no interest in justifying my use so it's just a conversation topic I don't bring up. It's also just not that much fun talking about drugs to someone who knows nothing about them, who can only say 'oh really..' when you tell them how high you were...

No, I don't. For the same reason that I don't drone on about my latest cycling adventures to people who can't hold themselves up on two wheels.

If someone point blank asks me 'do you do drugs?' my reply will depend a lot on who they are in relation to me. This rarely happens though. I find what works is whenever a drug or drugs in general come up in conversation, just don't react or comment on it. You'd be surprised how infrequently drugs get discussed by people who don't use them, which is easy to forget when you socialize on a board like this one. Even rarer is getting asked if I use drugs, especially since I try not to sport things that scream 'drug user', and I don't generally like to hang with sober people when my brain is bent.

You know I get the same kind of guilty feeling. Like i'm sharing something that they can in no way relate too. Lately my use has become a bigger part of my life and I once tried to share it with a friend of mine and when I was a few words in and the drug in question was named she immediately said "Say no more." and left it at that.

Some people are prudes. I fucked up a few relationships with people because I kept offering them drug solutions to their problems. I found that girls are less receptive to Adderall (I'm chasing a girl now since she owes me 10 bucks but keeps avoiding me and making lame ass excuses, shes the worst response I've had since I was trying to fuck her), boys are always trying to better themselves (especially if you tell them you will be a bigger pimp when you're on them).

Weed is so socially acceptable that it doesn't become a problem. I would smoke more if I didn't fucking fall asleep so much or got paranoid! Everyone likes a cool story about how you got away being high (from the po lice we all know and hate), or driving high.

Alcohol... well I don't do it (hate the psychological effect and the physical, since I have Dexedrine), but I loooove my friend. He drives drunk all the time, and I trust him with my life. Its so lame how so many people can't drive drunk or help out a friend who does. He won't let me drive though, since he thinks I suck more even when hes drunk haha!

I hate this, the people who refuse to let a sober person drive the vehicle when they are well beyond the legal limit. Yes i know some people can drive decent when they are drunk but often times they will drive when they are absolutely smashed and think they are driving fine when they really aren't. I have friends who used to do drugs with me but have quit using drugs and now they only drink and they drink all the fucking time. They act like they are doing sooo great because they aren't using but they don't hesitate to go to the bar every weekend or go to parties and get absolutely smashed and drive home. They think they are invincible and they know plenty of people who have gotten dui's but they have been lucky so far.

I don't wanna be a bitch but, seriously? I don't wanna sound like a hypocrite because I tend to drive high, but I don't think everyone would "like" a story about it or think its "cool"..especially my drug-free/anti-drug friends.

Lame how people can't drive drunk? There have been more scientific studies stating that alcohol impairs your judgement than I could even reference on here, you just sound ignorant and you are putting your life in danger --- a shitty driver who is sober is better than any driver who has been drinking, really.

@Thread - I will tell my stories that involve alcohol, but I'll often leave out details that involve other drugs. Some people enjoy the crazy stories and therefore will get slightly more details...I don't even really talk about my drug use with other people that use drugs irl honestly...sometimes I talk about my drug knowledge, but when necessary.

it's interesting... how many secret drug users there are out there. Like, you'd never know by just seeing people on the streets. It's kind of cool, but lame in a way that people only see the addicts...

But yeah, thanks everyone so much for writing, it was interesting reading posts. keep them coming.

Oh indeed. I once spoke to a medical assistant whose job was to collect urine screens at the Employee Health department at a hospital, for new hirees. She said there was absolutely no correlation between somebody's looks and the way they carried themselves, and their likelihood of turning up positive for something. She said most people who came up positive, especially for cocaine and marijuana, surprised her greatly, and she sees incredibly conventional looking people piss dirty every day.

She also said that on the other hand, most people she tested who rubbed her as 'thuggish' or off-center in some way, pissed clean.

When you think about it, for adults, there is really little to be gained by advertising drug use.

I completely agree with you there, and your previous post. Drug use is an almost totally maladaptive behavior, especially for adults. If you're obvious about your using, it can have some serious ramifications if you ever intend to hold a real job or do anything besides be an addict.

Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped me from drinking and smoking randomly during the week and acting as if I were sober. It's kind of embarrassing how many things I misspelled...

Responsible drug use should probably occur outside of things that require sobriety (except maybe amphetamines).
