I don't own a car, but if I did I wouldn't listen to the radio. It's the same way with Television, I can't watch it or listen to it first thing in the morning. See, when I wake up, I have to have just me and my thoughts. Television, and Radio, just scramble the brain and put unnecessary clutter up there. Why not wake up to a little bit of relaxing music, and a hot cup of tea? Sip away as you're thoughts unravel and slowly come into order. That, to me, is the proper way to wake up.

Besides, Radio is all shit anyway. It all sounds the same, since it's all the hits of the week. I hate that shit, especially when you put on an Alternative station. It's funny, their being alternative by sounding like every other "Alternative" band. Pretty hypocritical, dontcha think? :p

Edit: Yeah, if Pandora counts then yeah I guess I do listen to the radio, but only when I'm traveling from place to place on foot. Otherwise I just listen to my MP3 collection.

I love the radio, but Q107 happens to always be playing what I want to hear. Kim Mitchell on weekdays, Alice Cooper on Saturday night (appearing as the DJs not the music), held onto the same format since the days when Classic Rock was just Contemporary Rock. I recommend giving it a shot if you like Classic Rock and want a reason to like radio http://player.q107.com/

one of the best radio stations i've ever been able to listen to in my life was WWOZ in New Orleans. Everyone seemed to have that radio station on, no matter if it was a bar or your friends house.

I was wondering, does anyone listen to an AM station? we got some stickers yesterday for AM1690 and thought about turning it on and seeing what was up.

I only listen to online radios. The local radio stations here suck. There's only one that's decent, really.. online radio is nice because there's far more variety, but unless you've got a jazzy car it's not really something you can listen to while driving, I guess. I don't have a car so I wouldn't know lol

^Jazz is great for relaxing after mowing some bitches down while driving on the sidewalk.

i voted no because i don't think i've turned on a radio in about 5 years. but i do occasionally catch some interesting talk shows on Bbc Radio 4 - which is usually left on in my kitchen.

this is a rare occasion though.

i don't know what i would do during my lunch break if it wasn't for the opening segment of the jim rome show

it's a sports talk show, but to me, it's more comedic than anything on television

since i don't get a.m. radio at work, and if my boss isn't playing mp3s, i rock the classic rock station

i used to commute an hour one way to work, and i would listen to classical music, nothing like a good symphony for breakfast

i went a good 5 years of nothing but my ipod/burned cd's, but i'm burnt out

Some people say that's just as old person as reading the newspaper every morning, but I don't think so.

Old people: they have vast amounts of time to select from media, and they aren't as down with 'the kids'' music, so they are attracted to in depth news. Here, being like an old person is good.

The only station I listen to is WKCR, Columbia university’s station. I mainly tune in Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm EST, they have a great foundation reggae and dub show, tons of rare cuts and great interviews. During the week they play awesome jazz, phil schap hosts a few of the shows. They have a web stream for people that don’t live around NYC, just google WKCR.
