Do you have a "cheat" day?

If you eat fats and proteins with whole grains or other slow release carb sources. You wont get hungry as fast. And by the 2nd day you wont have any cravings.
Anything that spikes blood sugar and insulin is going to make you crash and crave more sugary foods to get energy levels back. This is a cycle that keeps repeating

I don't know if anyone else does it, but I typically allow myself one 'cheat' day per week. My view of healthy living is balance... as in to be healthy you don't have to live 100% according to the rules all the time. Maybe that's just my personality, but any time I am subject to rules that are too strict, my inherent reaction is to rebel %) One cheat day (usually saturdays) allows me to have that mental reset that I need to keep an overall healthy life without going to extremes. I typically only drink/smoke/do substances on these cheat days, and allowing myself to have dessert or a less than healthy meal. I think to be balanced and healthy you gotta let your hair down once in awhile. Do you guys agree or disagree? What does your 'cheat day' look like?

I approach things in a fairly similar way. Does take a lot of discipline. Probably be better to try and moderate over several days but hell, I like doing things to excess once in a while and a 'cheat day' certainly fulfills that need. If it is a moderate cheat day, I like having some cheese. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous but it isn't good for you and I LOVE the stuff. A less moderate cheat day, once every few months will usually end in the consumption of something delightful like 6APB - it is lovely!

I don't have a 'cheat-day' but I do try for about 80:20 with regard to making healthy choices in regard to eating, drinking, activity and recreation.
This is a very loose ratio, in that I don't measure much at all, but I am honest with myself and it has really helped me to maintain a healthy weight.
After a while of eating healthy, fresh, un/low-processed foods I noticed that my taste buds started to dislike a lot of the naughty things all on their own. I guess after being conditioned to one or the other, the opposite must be quite a shock, and maybe this is the body's way of forcing a gradual change in foods consumed, rather than one fell swoop :-)

not per say, but weekends are easier to eat what you want, then do the exercise to balance it out.

I like cheat days and these days I may allow myself eating unhealthy food right and left))))

Maybe that's just my personality, but any time I am subject to rules that are too strict, my inherent reaction is to rebel

i think this is a great insight, and a reason why a lot of people give up on diets/exercise programs. if you set your self up with the idea that you will work hard/eat well every single day, then a big friday night out or a lazy sunday can make you feel like you've screwed up. a couple of days like this can push a lot of people towards an attitude of "what's the point? i'm already way off schedule" that eventually lead them to give up entirely. definitely a big reason that the "resolutionists" that crowd the gym in january tend to be gone by march.

i think its a very poor idea to not have a cheat day.

but your cheat day still needs to be balanced. if you just eat massive amounts of shit 1 day a week, you can undo all the healthy good work you do the other 6.
