Do you ever think love songs are really about the artist being addicted?

i always wonder what "violent" by hole is about... the "might last a day" lyric about tripping and "mine is forever" being about being permafried. some people's trips last a day, and others hit for life... i dunno if that's what the song is about at all or if she's ever commented about it. i wouldn't really believe her what she said to the public or would think that was what god intended the song to be about for some people and maybe that's not the artists intention. idk. i tend to think about the subject i mentioned when listening to the song.. it sounds like she had a bad trip with some dude and is permanently effected by it.. i guess this isn't the particular question of the thread, but a very similar subject and maybe not a song about drugs but that's what i intrepret:
