Is anyone here on a methadone maintenance program (taking daily methadone) while still using heroin?
I was wondering if anyone feels depressed/ anxious/down when they stop using heroin even while on their daily methadone?
I know about the receptors and dopamine, etc, to an extent but I thought if you were taking methadone then this whole 'lack of dopamine' thing wouldn't come into play when you stopped your heroin use. One missed one day of methadone dosing at the clinic and used opiates for that day (Heroin) but one was feeling somewhat down, but happy because using makes one feel happy. Thought feelings of sadness were maybe because there wasn't enough heroin/opiates in system vs. regular methadone dose. But the next day, taking normal mg of methadone and feeling the same. Will this go away once one gets back to consistent dosing of methadone? One plans on not using (H) daily anymore but can't imagine doing it feeling like this. This never happened before when one would go days on methadone without H. So this has to be due to missing that one day right??
