Do I want to go to Grad School ?

As of right now.. typing this... I have no idea if I want to go to grad school (I'm a rising junior). But if I did, I'd want to pursue something in the realm of Biology... maybe Fisheries Management.

The reason I'm asking this is... I need to take physics this coming fall for Grad School -- if I'm going. The way my school has it set up, it's a year long course (2 semesters). If I don't take physics in the fall, and all of sudden set my heart on grad school than I have to take it my senior year (or over the summer), along with Biology Seminar (which is a req. for the Bio degree) and my other 'general biology electives' that I'll need to graduate. All of that will be a pain in the ass, workload wise. Plus, physics will most likely conflict with the more interesting 300 lvl bio courses.

So.. I'm debating on whether or not I should take physics in the fall. I could take it over the summer, but I do not want to devote my summer to school. I like my summers off.

I met with my major advisor today and he was trying to help decide but I really don't know what I want to do. He leaned more towards putting physics off until I found out what I really wanted to do.. but I'd rather take it junior year than senior year. He asked me where I see myself in 10 years and I almost said "prison", just for lulz. But I resisted the temptation. :D

Should I take it just in case? Just in case I decide grad school is for me? I want to do fish/wildlife/marine biology, maybe work in a lab, I don't know yet. I suppose grad school is probably a good idea for those things?

I just don't want to end up killing myself and building up my transcript for a grad school that I'm never going to go to. God damn, I hate registration.

If it was me, I would take it. Then you have the option of going to grad school. I'm not sure there's a whole lot you can do with just a BS in Biology other than be a teacher. At least with a grad degree you've opened up a lot more options. Besides, if you don't go to grad school, Physics may come in handy while you're in prison :D

I took physics in high school, so the work shouldn't be a problem. It's just one more thing I have to take, that's all.

And I know it's not "required" for grad school, but everyone and their brother is running around w/ their head cut off screaming it's recommended for grad/med school... schools "like" to see it on the transcript, blah blah blah.

So I'll guess I'll throw it in.

You should take anything that will give you options and flexibility. In terms of employment outcomes, there are no downsides to taking it, and it will give you the option to go to grad school if you want to. So I think you should take it.
