Do I take drugs too often?

Hi there.

I am beginning to question the frequency of my drug use. I have yet to experience any negatives about my drug use though. But normally this is how the frequency looks:

MDMA/Methylone - Rarely, once every 2 months (One dose only)
Tryptamines (4-HO-MET/MiPT) - 2 times a month
MXE 4-8 times a month
Stimulants (Methylphenidate/Ethylphenidate/Coke) - Rarely, once every 2 months

Is this completely off the hook? Should I turn my use down?

I am only going to comment on one thing and that is that you are "beginning to ask" yourself whether it is too much? I would pay serious attention to this voice inside. I'm not sure that anyone can tell you whether the use is too much for you. My suggestion would be to take a complete break from everything. Why not? See how you feel, how you function just being your unaltered self. Are you comfortable? If not, why? Just take some time to explore living life substance-free to gain perspective on your self and your original question.<3

I personally think anytime you use a drug is too much but this is a drug forum, right? According to the druggie handbook I think they say once per month for MDMA for magic retaining purposes. Adderall people sometimes take daily, and it's legal, but that doesn't mean it's not too often. MXE hasn't been around long enough to know how much is too much. I think if you're asking this question you know the answer. If you are going to continue using drugs I would adjust it to the point where you aren't having lasting effects the day or days after using.

Yes I know that. But I would like a second opinion/view on my drug use.

I workout alot, about 15 hours a week and eat very healthy.

I would like a break, but then I always justify myself for taking a little MXE in the weekends when my friends get drunk.

i think the fact that you ask yourself this question means that you are at least on the right track... so you dont feel alone, i do the same thing all the time:

i also live a pretty healthy life (well aside from drugs..) i work out, eat extremely healthy, have excellent cardiovascular fitness and have a model skinny body.. i actually am sober all during the work week but on weekends i use MDMA/roll (2-3 pills in a weekend) and i do coke (1-2 grams over the weekend).. and i do this pretty much every weekend.. i have access to these things whenever i want and financial considerations arent an issue.. basically its my choice to put the drugs away on sunday and not do them again till the following weekend.. still i ask myself if i should roll as much as i do or if i should do a little bit less coke sometimes.. and sometimes i do... this weekend i did less coke than normal so im happy about that... also when i was in my early 20's i literally partied like a rockstar so relative to that i have gotten much better.. but still i think the idea is to always improve.. keep in mind i have nothing against drugs but i aspire to be as in control with them as possible and i recognize that it takes *alot* of work to be able to do this...

so i dont know if thats a satisfying answer to your question.. i cant really say if what you are doing is too much because its so different for everyone but at least you are asking yourself and thats a good sign...

Listen. Drugs can aid you tremendously in life. If you for ex use some substance that gives you a slight buzz when your friends get drunk and rowdy, that's all good. But thing is you might not realise when you cross the border from "a bit" into "too much". And once people cross it they MIGHT have to go through hell in order to get their life's back. Listen to the people on TDS and you see what I mean. Many of us don't even get to stay alive, some loose their sanity and some lose their friends and families.

Im not moralising here, trust me I don't regret 10% of my drug usage, but if I can inform someone that might head towards that border to have a second thought... I wont hesitate to do so.

And as herbavore said: take a white month and study the effects it has on you and your life. You will NEVER regret it.

Just the fact that your wrote this post lets me know that your doing too much. Listen to your heart

Thanks alot for the replies. Very helpful.

I am gonna take some weeks off after this big party on friday.

Sounds like you have it under control man.
But it's good you are starting to question these things in the early stages of addiction/abuse.
Perhaps a good break to prove to yourself that it is not all downhill is what you need?

Generally if you have to ask, deep down inside you already know the answer. From MY standpoint, if I had the usage you have, for ME it would be considered ok (my family wouldn't have a problem with me doing this, but I'm a heroin addict so anything is better in their eyes). I managed on a similar "diet" of drugs that you do. The question is, is this you asking the question or did someone say you do drugs too often and you're trying to justify saying you don't? Some people say smoking pot once a week or at all is too much but drinking daily is ok. Personally it's up to you, if you honestly feel you're doing alright, and nothing majorly negative has come out of it, keep chugging/plugging/whatever ROA you us, along. Everything has consequences though. I'm not endorsing your usage or supporting a binge, I'm just going off of what has worked for me (and that's every drug except opiates/opioids).

Hi there,
Agree with herbavore, sound advice as always from her. <3

In my opinion your usage and frequency is quite moderate and I personally wouldn't say its "off the hook", but regardless of how minimal the amount or infrequency of whatever substance you use, it's never a good thing to have drugs involved in your life.

(aside from prescribed drugs that may be essential for a medical condition and as long as i'ts not abused)

Even when drug use starts off to be occassional and sensible amounts used and seems quite harmless and controllable, there is always the potential for that to change drastically. And believe me it does. Very easily. Before you even begin to realise how far it's going and as much as you believe it won't happen to you.

Drugs are sneaky bastards, they make you believe your justifications and excuses of why you use them, while all the time creeping up on you with the intention of taking over your life, unless you realise early enough and take control before they take you.

The fact you are questioning what you do and that it could be or become a problem is the wisest thing to do, instead of just going with the flow, justifying and excusing it and getting deeper and deeper into its clutches.

I only know this because it's happened to me and although I still use, due to the fact recreation is now addiction, It makes me sad how to see how many people's lives are being taken over and ruined by using all this shit.

If you can turn your use down then I suggest that you do, give it a try, it can only be a good thing can't it? You may (hopefully) even realise how much better off your life is without it.

Don't get me wrong I've had some amazing times and as someone else has posted I don't regret all of it, but at the same time the place it has lead me to now, I also deeply regret ever having the interest i've had and wish I had never started in the first place. It has caused so much more damage than it has given me good times, and it's so much easier to handle before you go too far than it is to try and get back what it has robbed from your life when you are up to your neck it in.
