Do I have an STD or a urinary tract / bladder infection?

In my head less and less.
I had sex with this girl about three weeks ago. We only had sex twice and I did not know her very well. I did not use protection.

I noticed a strong scent coming from her vagina. I didn't think much of it and continued to have to sex.

Well I was telling a friend about it, who was a girl, and she said that is a sign of an STD.

After over a week, almost 2 weeks, I started noticing some discomfort while urinating. Nothing overwhelming, just a bit uncomfortable. I have had this happen before too, didn't think much of it. Well then I notice that it stings to ejactulate. Actually, it is right before I ejaculate. The stinging doesn't come from my penis, it comes from much deeper, like where the tubes transfer.

To describe the pain when urinating : it is nothing overwhelming, just uncomfortable. Toward the end of my piss, I get a weird feeling in my bladder. Its worse in the morning, and its very yellow in the morning. If I drink a lot of water, it doesn't burn at all.

Its been almost 2 weeks and it doesn't seem to be getting better. Actually it seems to be getting worse.

My doctor is out of town, but I have contacted my nurse about it and she sent some antibiotics and I'm about to get pick them up. She said if those don't help after a week or two then to come in and see the doctor.

So, I am in the process of getting this issue worked out, but I was definitely interested to see what you guy thought about it because I am sure there are some folks in here that have experience with STDs. Me, I have never had one before.

I would think that an STD would be much more intense than this, hit faster, and have itching/swelling involved. This is very mild and took over a week after intercourse to begin. I really think it is just coincidence but maybe not. Let me know and thanks! :)

Hmm. I've had both UTI and bladder infections in the past and I obviously don't want to get your hopes up but it what you're describing sounds exactly like a UTI, not an STD. Obviously still take the antibiotics though and and see a doctor asap - go to a sexual health clinic while you're waiting would be my best advice too, best get tested sooner rather than later.

Thanks Pagey, and great to see you! Well, I have been told it may be a UTI too, but my mom said they are not common in men and that it probably is an STD.

Hopefully it is just an UTI.. The UTI could have been caused by the sex though, I've been told.

Sounds like a UTI. Do you have a strong urge to pee but when you do not much urine passes?
Good luck :-)

^ yes.. how did i get this?

here are my theorys :

1. taking too many ibuprofens and other meds

2. my meds won't let me ejaculate because they are new so its sometimes over a week. maybe my system is backed up, causing an infection ( this is my top theory )

3. the dirty sex caused it

4. too many energy drinks not enough water / dehydration

thoughts?

Whatever you have, the antibiotics will most likely clear it up so I wouldn't stress about an std until you've finished the course of antibiotics. If you still have symptoms after that, that's when I would get worried and go get tested.

Btw, UTIs aren't transferred partner to partner like STDs. I've had wayyyyyyy more UTIs than I care to even think about, so I feel your pain.

this! uti's are a bitch to shift and they stink

you can catch a uti from many ways but if bacteria get up your urethra you can catch them. if your partners vagina has been colonised by same bacteria that causes uti's then you can catch it from her. simple.

urinary tract infection, any source of bacteria that causes them to get into your urethra can be a cause

untrue

if your partner is colonised vaginally and you put you penis in their vagina filled with said bacteria then there is every chance they can pass it to you and vice versa

think about it logically. people are the largest bacteria vectors in our environment

4. too many energy drinks not enough water / dehydration

this will NOT help

^The whole point of it being a UTI is that the infection is in my urethra, not my vagina.

"Fact: while some sexually transmitted diseases...can cause irritation of the urethra, a urinary tract infection is not transmitted from one partner to another."

On my phone so can't hyperlink correctly, but they are most certainly not spread by having sex. Caused by, sure, but not spread. Btw OP, cystex is my otc med of choice for utis - doesn't turn urine orange and contains an anti microbial to help until you can get to a doctor, but you need antibiotics to clear it.
