Do healthy fit people have an easier time going through WDs than couch potatoes?

^believe it or not, it's a factor

if you are un-fit, high blood pressure, etc. - the hot/cold flashes are going to be worse.

If you're fit, regular blood pressure, etc. - the hot/cold flashes aren't going to be as bad.

Fit people still have gnarly withdrawal syndromes/symptoms though, I can vouch for my kind. =D

And I feel like most all drug users/abusers intuitively know this... but we're probably the most sedentary demographic in the world behind the elderly (minus meth/crack heads but their diet is shit). So we don't really want to believe it.

edit: Just to clarify, my position is that it's a very large factor.

All I can say for sure, seeing as I've never been into sports or exercise is that actually being ill makes withdrawals a lót worse. I once had a withdrawal of fentanyl when I had the flu which made for the nastiest cough I ever had or could even imagen, felt as if my lungs were filled with barbed wire and nettles and a layer of water. I couldn't even breathe in between because I was coughing so much face covered in tears too; I had to use codeine because I litteraly could not breathe enough without, while the previous and following times I had fentanyl withdrawals I experienced nothing like that.

yes, that physiological stuff is true. i'm putting forth that fitness is much less influential on withdrawal symptoms than the degree of the habit and one's mindset. that is all. agree to disagree maybe?

I'll agree to disagree by proxy..

Gently coming off molly right now so in very agreeable mood. :\

interesting question. Giving it a little thought, i would think that being in shape vs. not being in shape would NOT make any difference in the misery of w/d's. I don't see how any of the symptoms of w/d's could be affected by your overall health. The restless legs, the hot/cold flashes, the nausea/vomiting, the anxiety, lack of appetite....don't see how your overall health could affect any of those. sucks ass either way!

Sir, I think they're very intertwined. But generally I think mind state and vigilance prevails.

A good mind state and vigilance is usually the last thing someone WDing has of course. Few people are mentally tough enough unless maybe you're a hardened old dog.

So yeah it can prevail but to most I'd say don't count on it. You can 100% count on great health to help get you through, unfortunately for a user/abuser that takes extra vigilance.

I run now, and it's like I just added a drug to the list of DOCs. It's hard at first but then you crave it. Now I even get minor WDs when the suns not out or if it's raining too hard and I can't jog/run.

Restless legs = eased by your routine of running/squats/etc.. you won't even feel your legs if you run enough, they'll be dead tired.

Hot/cold flashes = eased by your much more efficient blood flow because you've been working out and eating right.

Nausea/vomiting = when your diet includes lots of vegetables and not much sugars/fats, you'll tend to vomit less than a fast-food addict barfing up years of greasy cheeseburger abuse.

Anxiety = Studies show exercise more effective than xanax for anxiety. Helps TONS.

Lack of appetite = You got me on this one. But you can just smoke weed...

the PAWS may be the biggest difference.
If your baseline health sucks, and your only 75-80% of that, you don't even want to leave the house.
If you are fit, after a few days of acute withdrawals, doing some exercise really speeds up your progress.

Good point about PAWs.. especially for benzos cuz that shit can last years. If you're about to go through heavy benzo WD, you're extremely lucky if you're an athlete or fit prior.
