Do any of you consider yourself to be a "pharmacist" or an educated druggie?

im really educated about drugs. i was a pharmacy tech in college and it wasn't enough to just make the stuff - i had to know what it was, what it did, what it was used for = big fan of medline and i even read those inserts in the box. i took some pharmacology and was very close to going to pharmacy school many times.
ive also been on a crap-load of meds - mostly head meds, well anything- i like to research and know about it. ive gotten in trouble for trying to be my own doctor and for not being careful when telling other people about their meds. i.e. i told a boy with an eating disorder that the zyprexa they put him on was probably causing his weight gain. i was only being matter of fact about a side effect but he went ballistic and was convinced that the doctors were trying to trick him and stuff.
i also like to know about street drugs - pharmacology is so interesting to me and i don't want to be a dumbass (sorry if you have done something stupid - no offence) and snort anything that is crushable or inject random stuff or smoke a vicodin because some friend of a friend's brother did it and got so high. its good to know half lives and solubilities and other stuff.

hmmm i could be a freelance pharmacist.... i think i have a lab coat somewhere

I considered going into pharmacy for a while, but ended up heading a different direction in medicine. The way you described yourself totally reminds me of me, I love reading medline and those medication inserts as well.

Undergrad organic chemistry was like pharmacy porn, I finally started to understand how things work at a molecular level and I've been hooked ever since!

I write about drugs and addiction for a living, plus I operate a drug information blog...so no.

I'm of the belief that no one is an "expert", as there's always more to learn. "A degree does not an expert make" kind of sums it up for me. Psychopharmacology is a strong interest of mine, though.

Well, my dad is a pharmacist. I do read the PDRs he brings home from time to time. I've read through Erowid countless times.

Out of the people I know, I'm the most educated when it comes to medicine/drugs. They tell me that I should of gone into medicine, but I feel if I did I'd probably be dead by now. So I'll just keep it as a hobby than as a profession.

In general yes, I've researched the hell out of every drug I've ever tried, which is quite a lot of them. I can't compete with the advanced drug discussion people but of all the people I know who use drugs of any kind I am always the most knowledgeable. My mom's a nurse and she asks me about different drug properties and interactions and what not. I'm always surprised that people just take things without having any curiosity as to why that drug affects them the way it does. I'm an information junkie, I read constantly, it's a whole other addiction.

I'm pretty much like this with anything that interests me, which means I'm really good at the handful of things that really catch my interest and really bad at things that don't.

the drugs i take and have taken, mostly through research and experience, i would say i know a lot about. if there's one that i don't know about, and want to, i research first and just ask people. but the ones i already have done are the ones i care and know about the most so i dont really bother for the rest..

I know nothing about anything. Just bought a book about organic chemistry, let's see how far that one will go to diminish my ignorance. ((:

As Socrates said, "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing." :)

i like that - pharmacy porn. organic just frustrated me. i like to know more about the medical/body aspects of drugs. does that make sense? i get confused and frustrated (because i should know this crap) when i try to understand the chemical make up, structure and exact chemical reactions. im glad to see that my crapload of college chemistry and calculus that carried a very hefty price tag, has been completely erased from my brain. i know if i take some refreshers (i mean i haven't used or studied this stuff in over 10 years), i can get it back. hopefully going back to school sometime before im 40.

for my age i believe i know quite a bit since i am only 17 and i know the most out of most if not all the people i know but compared to some of the experts here at bluelight i still have alot to learn

I am pretty knowledgeable about a bunch of drugs, and always research a drug I'm going to take, not usually all the pharmacokinetic side of things, mostly to do with pharmacodynamics.

the -kinetics can come later.

I, like many others here, am the most knowledgeable person aout any given drug out of anyone I know personally, and have met a few other people who know more about drugs than me.

I would like to know more, but hey there's plenty of time, no need to overload - as long as I'm responsible and can help others make relatively informed decisions, then I'm happy with that for now.

I'm going to school for pharmacology so one day I actually will be a pharmacist. But as far as recreational drugs go, I like to learn as much as I can about what I'm putting into my body.

For my age.. I would say I know a fair bit. A shit load more than FRANK seems to provide for sure!
I just seem to know a lot about every type of drug, so I get quite a few people asking me for advice, or not listening to my advice and paying for it.
A question I was asked today, 'Is there a way to avoid a comedown?'
So bla about 5-htp, benzo's opiates etc and then the obvious, don't trick your self (if on a mild 'Chemical research' upper) to think you wont have one as it makes it a SHIT load worse. Or alternatively don't take a dirty upper.
I hate uppers.

If you've met me, I may have come across as a crazy flipped out "fear and Loathing" themed kinda person, But I do that purposely as a way to find out how fucked up you are, its also fun.
I am crazy with an IQ of 188.

But wait there's more but I CBF typing.
