ok, it may not be good form,
but i'm a lazy bastard, and i was wondering:

if i were to simply pulverize my DMT-containing plant material (P.Viridis), then let it soak in naptha for [a while], would i be able to filter, freeze-ppt (or otherwise recrystallize) and have a vaporizable product?
or is DMT in salt form in P Viridis? (and would have to be treated with NaOH first)
or will there be too many fats extracted? (which would mean ANOTHER step, acidifying and then NP extracting the fats, before basifying -_-)
or am i not allowed to ask?

You need the NaOH to unhook the DMT and allow the naptha to extract it.

Its not hard really. Search for 'straight to base' tek.

Lye is also super cheap (search for a five pound tub, ought to last ya).

Check out the DMT big and dandy thread. We talked a lot the last 2-3 days about this.

Lastly, this is not a topic appropriate for ADD (haha couldn't resist).

peace and love,
samadhi

I'm pretty sure that only freebase DMT is soluble in naphtha, so it wouldn't hurt to basify the solution first. I say do the extraction and if your first pulls produce a bunch of yellow fatty stuff (at least that happens from mimosa hostilis), then do another acid/base treatment to defat.

Definitely recrystallize your product and treat your final basified naphtha pull with a little bit of baking soda/water solution to ensure that any lye in solution falls into the aqueous phase. I've found a lot of white lye residue in evaporated naphtha that wasn't treated in this way, despite that lye shouldn't be soluble in naphtha.

i nearly posted it in Basic, but i didn't think i'd get good replies :\

thanks you two ^^, btw.

Check out the DMT big and dandy thread in the PD forum for lots of extraction discussion. First you need to just read up on some teks before though.

Read about acid/base extractions and then read about straight to base extraction teks.

I was under the impression that household lye was a bad idea because it contains some heavy metal salts in there.

make sure it reads either 100% lye/sodium hydroxide/caustic soda.
