I tried DMT for the first time today and decided to write a report about it

I don't have too much experience when it comes to psychedelics, having tried acid twice, and mushrooms once. The mushroom trip was a very positive and enjoyable experience, and acid I didnt enjoy as much, it seemed to drag on and on for too long. I've tried to describe as much as I can remember about the trip, although really theres just so much of it that can't be put into words, but I'll try.

The trip wasn't planned, an unexpected friend visited and asked me and my house mate if we wanted to try some DMT. I was a little unsure if i wanted to try, but asked for a small dose and my friend loaded me a bong hit that had some weed with the DMT crystals mixed with it. It took a while to burn the entire hit and then I went to exhale after holding for a few secs, I didn't see anything come out of my mouth.

That's when it hit me, my friend took the bong out of my hands and I sunk back into the couch. I lost my vision for a few seconds at this point, and my world started spinning. I dont think my eyes were closed although I'm not sure. After maybe a minute I could see again, but the world was different, I didnt recognise anyone in the room, I had no idea where I was, who I was, what I was doing there or how I got there. I lost all sense of what I was. I would look down at my legs, and then realise that they were my legs and that I was a Human being. Then I'd forget everything again and this repeated a few times.

The visuals were amazing, everything in the room looked like it had come from a cartoon, I was stuck in some alternate world where I was completely clueless what exactly I was doing there, or how I got there. Colours were completely distorted. Everything appeared like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, or some sort of mosaic. The whole room was yellow and red, everything appeared to be made out of cardboard and paper, nothing seemed real, it was all fake.

Everything in the room that I looked at gave me different visuals, the tv was just 1000's of balls of colour/light coming straight at me through the room. I was being overloaded visually and thought it was too much. I got up and walked to my bedroom and lay down. Once I got there I forgot where I was instantly, I could here conversation coming from the other room, but it was coming at me from all directions. I thought I could hear snippets of conversation coming from outside, when infact they were all coming from the next room, in the opposite direction. The tv in my room was some monster, shooting out swirling colours and random images. Every 10 seconds I would forget where I was then remember again, any object I looked at would produce a different hallucination. My entire bedroom seemed like some sort of game, or cartoon set. I had no idea how I got stuck in their, and at times it was a little scary.

Then after about 10 minutes after the dose, just as fast as it hit me, it dumped me straight back into the real world. It ended very suddenly but I was somewhat relieved. I went back out into the room with my friends and tried to describe the trip. My mood was very different for the next few hours, I was in a very introspective/ self analysing mood but also quite happy for no reason.

It's been about 12 hours since the trip and I've noticed a mood lift all day since then. I'd say it's been a very positive experience and has made me think deeply about alot of things. At the moment I don't think I will try DMT again. Although I feel it has been an overall positive experience, it was extremely intense and at times it honestly felt like it was too much for me too handle. But thankfully those thoughts didnt continue during the trip as I would simply forget what the hell i was thinking. One thing that surprised me about the trip was how quickly it dumps you back into reality, it reminds me of some movie scenes where the character jumps into some vortex or tunnel and goes on some crazy trip through time and then is spat out the other end of it, experiencing all sorts of crazy stuff during the trip.

I'd often thought of the way some psychedelic users talk of their trips as mind expanding or learning experiences as simply deluded and just kidding themselves that they were doing more than just simply getting high. But this experience has definately changed my perspective on this, and alot of other things, although I'm not 100% exactly what things yet.

I wish I had read a few more reports before I tried the drug so I would know what to expect, although I'm sure theres absolutely nothing you can read that will prepare you for DMT.

=D
oh, how wrong you were!

umm what would have been easier to understand?

I kept my eyes open for most of the time.

This was a very good report, accurately portraying the details of a DMT flash. Excellent writing, basix. Also, as far as never doing it again... if you don't, you won't get to experience this anymore:

In my experience, this is precisely my reason for each and every time I've ever smoked DMT since my first time. Talk about a mood-enhancer!!!

^ yeah thats true, although I have a few reasons for not planning on trying it again. I've suffered from drug induced paranoia/psychosis brought on from meth/mdma use and although I havn't done those substances for about 18 months, I've still got ongoing paranoia/anxiety triggered bymy past drug use. So I'm extremely cautious when it comes to drugs these days, and psychedelics especially scare me.

But who knows, I'll never say never, if the oppurtunity comes up some time in the future I may decide to use it again.

this is lovely, and wise words indeed :)

I always thought closing your eyes during the trip was the most common way to enjoy the trip, because when the eyes were open so mush disorientation occured with the blending of the DMTworld and the Regular world. Thats what Strassman said any way...

So... you guys are able to discern whether your eyes are open or closed during a DMT flash? Something tells me you might need to up the dose...

Im just going on what Ive read, I ve never actually tried DMT. Are the patterns that apparent?

I thought I read a few trials where the subject could see the DMT visions overlayed on top of the real world and got a little disoriented, and Strassman said the ought to lie back and close their eyes.

A side note though, when I do nitrous with any psychedelic I find that the patterns are so strong I cannot tell if my eyes are open or closed

^^^Everything becomes an hallucination; the world almost amkes me feel sick, it looks so fucked up and incomprehensible. I've specifically smoked DMT and forced myself to remember to keep my eyes open, but when I've come down its always by opening my eyes, so I guess I must subconciously just close them.

On smaller doses, I've concentrated on the close eye fractal patterns, and have opened them to see the patterns still swirling in exactly the same manner.

Good trip report bro :)

no DMT can prepare you for that which you wont read ;-)

^ I need to meet you in real life, just to satisfy my curiosity about whether you speak the way you type! :D
