dmt extraction: reusing naphtha

So I've noticed that reusing the naphtha after freeze precipitating the dmt out, the naphtha becomes more and more yellow in color. Is there any issues that could arrive from this? would it be better to use new naphtha for each pull?

I think at some point the amount of that yellow stuff in the naphta could be enough so that it precipitates with the dmt upon cooling if its solubility is similarly temperature dependent. That is possible with other colourless substances too, so you wouldn't be able to notice as easily.
You could at least try to wash your solvent with acidic and/or alkaline water before re-use to get rid of it.

There is a small (but probably insignificant) amount of DMT remaining in solution after naptha is frozen, so theoretically reusing naptha will increase yield by 1-2%. But as sn23 said, you will eventually notice that your frozen crystals are more and more yellow. You could then use a second recrystallization using fresh naptha to get white crystals, or just start your extractions with fresh naptha. Honestly if you're at this point in your chemistry skills, there's a bit of "fine art" to it after the basic science is learned. So you must be the judge of the resulting crystal purity.

A relevant question would be: do you want crystals that are as white as possible and the crystals to be as big and beautifully crystalline as possible?
Or do you want a product with potent effects?

The yellow could be plant oils which would make the product DMT waxy and suck to smoke, but they could also be other alkaloids that make the DMT more potent than it could be on it's own.

Actually I prefer my own extracts over synthetic DMT, and I prefer the very ruby red DMT that I once had over anything I ever had since. If you share yours with other people they might be hard to convince that white and pure is not necessarily positive.

I've always reused my naptha and never really noticed much of a color change, however after a few extracts the naptha will begin to smell faintly like that floral DMT smell. Its kind of funny to pull out my old zippo and get a wiff of DMT. I never really noticed any difference between new or used naptha, only the cost.
