Ben Fogle was taken to hospital suffering ‘a full on psychotic episode’ after his drink was apparently spiked with the drug LSD. Speaking last night, the TV star revealed his terrified wife and friends locked him in a room for his safety after he tried to jump out of a window until an ambulance came to take him. Fogle, wife Marina and their children were staying at a family friend’s house in Gloucestershire last Friday when he ‘flipped’ after returning from a country pub. He said: ‘I don’t like using the word, but I was acting like a stereotypical madman. I thought I was doomed, I thought I was going to die. ‘My wife and friends kept trying to calm me down as I was threatening to hurt myself. I was 100 per cent out of my normal character.’ He said he ‘all was fine’ when they returned to the house about midnight and estimated he had drunk no more than half a bottle of wine. But after going to settle son Ludo, three, back down, he realised something ‘very strange’ was happening to him as he attended to Iona, one.

Every Daily Mail story is exacty the same, they must make them all up! I doubt anybody in a pub is going to waste Acid on some randoms drink.
 
makes me so fucking angry about how hard i try to acquire some lucy, when some unsuspecting person gets it for free without even asking! :X

A more balanced report. I'm wondering if it was some kind of dissociative like ket, mxe, 3/4meo-pcp or pcp judging by the descriptions of mania and out-of-body feelings.

BBC Television presenter Ben Fogle has spoken of his anger after someone spiked his drink in a pub with an unknown drug. He says it happened last Friday while he and his family were seeing friends.

Whoever spiked my drink with mind altering drugs and put me in A&E with a psychotic fit. Did you think of the damage you would cause? The adventurer says he was putting his children to bed after drinking at a pub in Gloucester when he "flipped". He tweeted: "Whoever spiked my drink with mind altering drugs and put me in A&E with a psychotic fit. Did you think of the damage you would cause?" Ben Fogle, 39, says he tried to jump out of a window and had to be restrained by his wife. "I was ranting, marching up and down, hitting walls, trying to jump out of windows," he added.

Couldn't they do test results to determine what he had consumed? Or does that take a while?

I'd never heard of him, but I see he's been on some shows, presented some shows, born to some famous people (that I also didn't recognise) and written some books and possibly more that I didn't bother continue reading about.

Fun fact: My uncle actually did jump out a window to his death (his parents/my grandparents bedroom window to be precise - I've been in that room many times and still can't quite conceive of how he died from what is a fundamentally not-dying-if-ya-jump-from height window - let alone how he managed to miss the bay window roof below) whilst on acid in the late 60s. This definitely did happen.

However, he also suffered from schizophrenia and chronic depression and was suicidal at the time. Nobody knows what he was actually thinking when he made that decision but I very much doubt it was cos he though he could fly. Almost certainly cos he was massively depressed, suffered from underlying mental health issues and - crucially - actually wanted to die around the time he took the plunge.

Apologies for bringing such a throwaway thread back from the dead but happened to stumble across it in pursuit of bigger game and thought my lil familial anecdote may be of some small relevance. Or not. You decide.

Also, Mr Fogle - who, as Cornish suggests, is indeed a legend as far as housewife-friendly daytime tellybox goes - revealed in subsequent interviews that he suspected he had been spiked by Russian "intelligence" services cos he has the same name as that Seppo bloke wot got dun for espionage around the same time :sus:

He was probably just really drunk. I've seen it happen tons of times before. Exactly as described, no drug besides alcohol involved.

Yeah I've got mates with mental illnesses who can get really bad when they drink too much. I haven't drunk for ages but I got drunk a couple of weeks ago and felt it made some underlying shit fairly bad and I hadn't even drunk that much.
