Kratom extract questions

So I had about an oz of "Maeng Da Crushed Leaf" that I decided to make into an extract since it was purchased locally from a source that I can almost guarantee will not be as potent as the real stuff I'm getting in the next day or so.

Anyways, I put the oz (~28g) into a pot of ~3 cups water with 1 cup pure lemon juice and (very, very lightly) boiled it for 20minutes although I would say it was even closer to a simmer. I put the first batch of liquid through a cotton muslin strainer and kept the liquid while I repeated the process once again. I squeezed/wrung out the strainer vigorously and then put both liquids in a large sauce pan and let it sit on the lowest heat on my stove until almost all the liquid was evaporated and it started to turn into a bubbling resin.

Should I let it sit overnight to let the evaporation finish or is it safe to continue to heat the extract even though there is very little water left? I don't want to "burn" it although I would think that pyrolysis of the alkaloids would be at a temperature that would not be anywhere close to 100°C.

Also, this crushed leaf didn't seem especially strong (~5 grams T&W'ed didn't produce much more than the stimulatory effects). What is the potency of my yield (ie. Was it close to 100% efficient)? If not, what is the usual yield in relation to the potency of the crushed leaf by itself?

Also, note to self/others, using so much lemon juice doesn't exactly help with the bitter/astringent taste...

I scraped some of the tarry looking stuff off (really sticky and gooey) and this is what that looked like:

and this is what the tarry substance looked like after 5 minutes more of gentle heating:

Thoughts? The gooey stuff is immensely hard to work with and I'm not sure if that stuff in the pan is burnt or not.

and here is what the stuff from the pan looks like after it was scraped up (the bubbly looking stuff in the pan are the big chunks at the top, the rest is pretty much dust)

Mods- can you change the title of this to appear in the forum list as "Kratom Extract Questions" please?

Thanks.
