Hello,

I have Ritalin capsules (with the small "balls" inside) 40mg two times a day. Lately I've been only shooting it because it gives a faster onset, a sort of buzz and sometimes when mixed with the correct amount of water it also induces a kick. However, there's one problem that keep on irritating me. Namely that not all methylphenidate dissolves the first time I add water to it. I've spoken to a friend recommending "really cold water" and did so today, but still I had to do two fixes to get everything from the capsule in me.

What amount of water should I use, should it be hot or cold or somewhere in between? Tips for getting everything in the first fix is appreciated.

Thanks

PS. Know of the risk of shooting pills, so please don't whine about that.

I will answer the best I can but I have limited knowledge of Ritalin and the last time I had some was when I was ~8 or 9 y.o.

If your trying to dissolve the substance and its not completely dissolving then I would do 1 of 2 things (or both).

1. Try to continuously stir the mixture for as long as needed until all is dissolved. Be patient.

2. Crush the beads up into a fine powder and then refer back to 1.

Also, use pure distilled water (hopefully you know that already).

I dont know how much water you need or if it should be cold or warm or what. I would assume that room temp would be just fine but thats just an assumption.

Be careful!!!

Ritalin contains methylphenidate hydrochloride. It's solubility is 1.255mg/ml in water (source). To dissolve 40mg you will require just over 30ml of water. Don't use hot water as it can also dissolve the fillers which may then get through your filter, precipitate back out in your blood stream, and clog the capillaries in your lungs.
