Dissolving and storing cocaine in a liquid state.

I was reading a story about a man who died after drinking pure cocaine that had been placed inside a bottle of rum. It looked just like rum, it was clear, and not a single visible indicator that the bottle contained 8 ounces of pure coke. Is this possible? My mind is blown! I mean what good is it to anyone if its liquid? unless they are shooting it up, i dont see why, other than smuggling purposes, someone would want to do this?

Yes, you can dissolve cocaine in solvents, but it is degraded by alcohols and water in the presence of acids/base so storing it in solution for very long isn't good.
