OK so about 3/4 weeks ago I supposedly dislocated my index finger punching various plasterboard walls/columns etc...stupid yes I know.
My hand blew up. I started sweating/panicking as I looked at my hand and saw a knuckle sized bone protruding out of my upper hand amongst all the inflammation.
So I go straight to A&E (UK) have scans etc and was told I had a dislocation of the index finger...They mentioned the bone had been twisted with my repeated punching but only showed me a small piece of bone detached from the main index finger which was all that needed to be fixed.
Every person/consultant/doctor etc I saw was adamant the protruding bone distant from the fracture was inflammation but it was clearly a bone!
It got put in a cast/sling successfully on the second attempt with the aid of gas and air, what he did to my hand to cause so much further pain and duration I have no idea.
Shy of two weeks I had the cast removed by the fracture consultant who said my dislocation had healed!! (in two weeks?!) And that the protruding bone should correct itself in the half cast he suggested and if not then I could have it cut off
I was too have the half cast on for 4 weeks.
A week later I returned to A&E anxiously wanting a second opinion about the protruding bone before the bones had set. Of course I was seen by the A&E monkeys, several of them in fact and each with different opinions.... some sympathetic and in agreement that I never had the fracture corrected but most in defense and hostile that I had been treated properly.
Apparently the protruding bone is new bone repairing the fracture!!!8)
I had the cast removed and yet again they fucked the first cast up so had another one on which I also believe is incorrect. My fingers throbbed all night where it was so tight that I had to loosen the cast up to be able to sleep!
I'm seeing the fracture consultant again in a few days at there referral, but think its a waste of time seeing as he was the one who said it would heal normally in 4 weeks
I'm seriously thinking of complaining about the whole treatment I've received and for the love of god hope my hand is functional asap being my line of work is an IT tech and my passion is also martial arts, boxing etc.
Has anyone had anything like this? or knowledgeable in hand fractures?
Excuse my poorly written mess of a thread.
