"Dirty" 4-HO-MiPT

I've got a few hundred milligrams of substance sold to me as 4-HO-MiPT, but it appears to be very impure. It's an earthy brown color, and I need three to four times as much to exhibit a similar effect to clean, white miprocin that I've gotten from other vendors. Does anyone have any educated guesses as to what the impurities may be, and whether they're toxic? (Also, if I were feeling so industrious, could I clean it?)

It's impossible to say over the internet what they could be, have it tested professionally.

If you want open speculation, my guess is it turns to a quinone or dimerizes somehow due to oxidation in air, possibly catalysed by left over trace metals or salts. Other 4-sub tryptamines are known to go 'off' and turn to black goo.
It could, however, be as simple as having it bulked out with salt, sugar, coffee.
