(very long, just felt like typing it all out to sort of get some relief, because it really did bother and scare me. I am not the type of person who who try tripping or many uppers at all due to my GAD and general caution towards substances!)
Hi, so this is my report about a person who has never tripped, never had the desire to trip, or never accidentally had an experience in anyway comparable to tripping until a night roughly one week ago. I actually stick to opiates and downers, as well as am diagnosed with mild GAD- so there is some background information.
It all started when I was in my room trying to do what I had to do for early class (I am in college and try and take my schoolwork somewhat seriously). I had not been sleeping well at all, actually I had hardly been sleeping.. staying up until around 4:30 AM every night playing 360 or browsing craigslist for a sports bike.
I decided I needed to get something to put me out, and since I hadn't gotten my prescription for my xanax in about 3 days my old choice was, tylenol PM.. however, when I went to the campus drug store their bottles were like, 12 bucks.. I said screw this, and picked up a small box of pills containing only the sleep aid in the PM, Diphenhydramine for 3.99 instead.
It didn't even occur to me, though I am somewhat knowledgeable about drug interactions, I guess I just was frustrated and really wanted to be STONE for just one night in the last week.. they were packaged in 2's, so I popped 6 of the damn things, thinking of them as someone would think of very low doses of acetaminophen, maybe 200mg capsules, and having a horrible headache. I finish up what I was doing on the computer and laid down.
BTW, they were 25/mg a pill. Dose was 150mg.
An hour later, maybe 11 PM, I was still laying in my bed, completely restless and frustrated that again, even with some serious med I was not falling asleep. It is almost scary when I think about it, because I popped open my eyes and got out of my bed with the thought to go take 2 more, but as I stood up I just felt odd. My eyes felt heavy and I felt like my ears were ringing with this low pitched buzz, but I wasn't tired at all. It kind of freaked me out, so I said screw it, it is probably not good to be staying up on this stuff so let me just try and get back to bed.
When I laid down, my legs were getting such bad RLS that I couldn't keep them still for more then a half a minute at a time. But I was determined to fall asleep and kept my eyes closed.. that is when it got weird.
I was talking to my mom, for a good fifteen minutes around 11:30. I popped up in my bed, as suddenly the fact hit me that my mom lives 4 hours away from my college. I figured I was half sleeping, so I took a sip of water that was by my bed and closed my eyes again, to see CRAZY C/E/Vs.. I mean nuts.
Almost blinding from all the colors and huge abstract portraits of what looked like a landscape from another planet. I had this one where I saw men and women in tophats, this CEV all in black and white, driving tricycles and dirtbikes into this huge rippling body of water with splashes of water making my eyes all blurry. It almost took me a while for it to hit me that I was having these visions, because I still was quite awake yet my mind was convincing me that it was just a dream. I popped up AGAIN with my heart racing and my mouth and tongue was dry and heavy now. I figured by this point that I had obviously taken it too far with the sleeping meds, so I had to stay up the rest of the night until about 4 AM restlessly trying to listen to music, watch tv or anything to take my mind off how nervous I was that I would start hallucinating with my eyes open!
In the morning, after class, I had looked on here and other sites to see similar reports of CEVs, talking to people that aren't in the room and some of the physical symptoms of it all. With a dose of 150 m/g, I realized I must have a very touchy tolerance to the stuff. I was petrified, and I will never take more then directed of something OTC again.
