Opioids Dilaudid withdrawal could use some help

I have been plugging 4mg every evening for about a month. Out of nowhere I started going into withdrawal 5 hours after my last plug last night which I thought was odd. I had planned on tapering soon since I was running out of pills. I figured withdrawal wouldn't be bad from 4mg but I'm miserable. Can't even see straight, stuck in bed, can't eat, everything hurts. Was gonna try and just stop cold since I thought I got thru the first 24 hours but it doesn't seem to be letting up so I just orally took 4mg and am planning on tapering orally moving forward unless someone suggest otherwise. Worried that by taking this last oral dose, I might have to go thru the same nightmare I've been living for the last 24 hours. I can't see functioning at work like this, how long will this keep me out of normal life functions. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The bad news is that you are physically dependent on an opioid.

The GOOD news is that it's hydromorphone- and that the withdrawal will be extremely short-lived (yet strong, whilst it'll last)

I would read up on the Thomas Recipe.... it's a guide suggesting a plethora of withdrawal supplements and pharmaceutical aids.

Honestly, your withdrawal shouldn't really even be THAT bad to warrant the full recipe (a benzo)- it should be over around the 72 hour mark.

Taper if you can with your remaining pills, reducing your dosage as necessary.

But I suggest just buckling down and getting it done and over with- the longer you hold out- the worse the pain.

HM is actually the easiest opiate to kick for me. I regularly switch from heroin or Fentanyl over to dillies bc it seems like dilaudid withdrawal is simply not as horrible as more sedating opiates.

Moderate dose of imodium with a high dose of lyrica or Gabapentin and you literally won't feel the withdrawal. 4mg a night is also a relatively small habit. You will be 90% better in 72hrs.

Dilaudid is a terrible drug to be dependent on. One must dose very frequently. It never even kept me asleep all night. I would IV 12mg and be sick (not craving... Big difference) 5hrs later.

Thank you for the quick response, I feel a little more ease now. I'll continue tapering and look into the Thomas recipe.
