This is actually a very delayed trip report but I find it interesting and hopefully amusing to anyone who reads it.

This is all took place about 3 years ago while at home and while hospitalized with an infection in my spine. I was IVing Dilaudids multiple times a day, between 2-60mg at a time depending on how much I could afford at the time. I was in a great deal of pain and usually bedridden.

I should mention at this time I smoke cigarettes.

Many times I would nod out, then get up and walk out of the hospital to have a cigarette, then snap to and realize I've not gotten out of bed. I was totally convinced that I had really gone out, however I learned by counting my cigarettes that this was not the case. This was happening several times a day over a period of a month. It was stuch a strange experience to be certain of being outdoors smoking, then bam, you're actually just sitting up in bed.

On a side note, since then I have occasionally had other out of body experiences, and also vivid auditory hallucinations while under the influence of Dilaudid. It seems to only ever happen with the instant release tablets, and does not seem to have to do with the size of the dose. Has anyone else has a similar experience?

Also, this being my first post I would like to say hello to everyone!

have not had the same experience with dilaudid (which I take on a daily basis, generally IV), but I have a similarly-weird thing happen once about 12 hours into applying two 100 mcg fentanyl patches to my leg (possibly not the most ideal location, but extended usage had limited my amount of unused skin). Anyhow, I was just sitting back on the couch, not really doing much of anything, when I was overwhelmed by euphoria so intense that I felt like I was levitating above my body and that my surroundings had blurred into a white nothingness. The only thing I can compare it to is nitrous when the dentist really turrns it up. I have no idea how long it lasted, but wen someone yelled that dinner was ready and I automatically sat up, it just went away. I've tried to reconstruct the circumstances of the situation a million times in order to get - whatever that was - again, but I have yet to achieve success. damn...

to the OP, Like nod dreams? well thats what I call em. Where your so high you nod out and start imagining your actually doing something.
Like I was handing change to the gas station clerk, and i asked "how much for the newports?", the next thing I know my friend is lookin at me like WTF. I was even lifing my hand to point out the pack of cigs. Turns out I just nodded out while riding in the passanger seat and was having like a mini "dream" that I was actually doing something.
All these dreams were of really mundane things.
I bet if was shootin dillys all day and the only thing I got to do was go outside for a cig, Id start nodding out, havin a dream that I was goin outside for a cig, then coming to in my hospital bed.

the nod dream thing is not really uncommon, its not really a OBE in my opinion either though.
