Are they the same in terms of injection? Do I get more off the hydromorph contin 6mg than i would from 1 4mg pill and one 2mg pill?

Opioids Dilaudid pills vs hydromorph-contin

Dilaudid and Hydromorph Contin are both hydromorphone. The difference is that Dilaudid are instant release and Hydromorph Contin are extended-release. We don't condone IV'ing drugs for obvious harm reduction reasons, but if you are going to do it then the Dilaudids are much safer to IV.

I've noticed that the rush from one IV Dilaudid 8 mg ir > two 4 mg Dilaudid ir's. Not sure why, but has proven true to me on several occasions.
