starting of with a little bit of background information: i usually smoke out of a gravity bong for a couple reasons.but anyway i decided to roll a blunt yesterday and was suprised at how different the high was.i mean it was the same kind of weed.so basically why does how you smoke affect the high?

...or is it just in my head?

i have no idea why. but i have noticed it too. i think it has somthing to do with: if you have a anything with a bowl (bong, piece, bubbler etc) you conserve more weed and usually get bigger hits and waste a little less bud. with a joint/blunt you burn more, and cant get as big, filling rips.

blunts have nicotine in them from tobacco. If you're not a regular tobacco smoker it can really alter the high.

why though? ROBOtussin hit the nail on the head about bongs and joints.im not saying i was higher, it was just more pleasant i guess

hmmm..
the only really profound difference between highs i have noticed is between vaporizing the weed with a volcano (or lightbulb, or methpipe, etc.) or regularly smoking it.

The only possible things that i can think of is that either when you are smoking a blunt you get a more direct, in your face hit of smoke then out of some kind of water pipe (i.e. gravity bong) and that makes the high more intense
OR
you are smoking different strains of weed that have significant differences in there balance of sativa and indica.
because as you may have known, sativa is more energetic and intellectual while indica is pretty much the opposite.

oh and blunt wraps are made from tobacco leaves if im not mistaken

bongs waste most of youre THC, pipes are crude in the sense that the flame frys it out, joints or blunts burn at a lower temp, and because of that they are more efficient sparing more THC & CBD's, vaporizers are considered the same as ingesting, but eating is profoundly different then vaping. for me any how.

but BTrips has the same idea i usually do when i get surprised after not smoking a blunt for a while, i think its the straight shot of compressed smoke to the lungs.

haha yea i smoked a roach from a blunt un-expectantly one time and after like 1 second my lungs are filled to the brim with smoke 8o

Well if you're used to bongs then the rate you intake the smoke is going to be different than the rate you intake smoke from Joints.
Try taking a hit from a bong every 20 minutes for 6 hours, then try taking 20 hits from a bong in under 20 minutes.
The highs are so much more different.

Thats my guess too... even if you ARE used to nicotine though, it is still a different high. You are smoking two drugs, as opposed to one...

Obviously the high will be different. Any how often does a person hold in tobacco for as long as they hold in weed? Hmm? When they smoke a blunt.8o

INTAKE also plays a roll.
INTAKE alters THC CONSUMED, depending on the METHOD OF INTAKE.

You also may be smoking more weed when you smoke a blunt to your face, as opposed to a couple bowls?

Hope any of this helped

I'd have to agree that there is a difference between bongs and joints. But i think what blode said above about the rate you inhale is probably the reason why they feel so different.

Could also be because when you take a hit through a bong the bud is in contact with the flame for much longer than if you just light a J and let it burn on its own. Which would decompose some of the THC and other cannabinoids.

Then there's vaporizers which are in a class of there own =D
