how does extacy relate to meth?

if someone abuses mdma, would thier appearance be significantly changed over a long period of time, like a meth addicts would be?

i only ask this because mdma has the word meth in it.....

edit : sory if that sounds really dumb lol, i just dont know

they're both amphetamines so they'll both have the 'upper' effect on the body.

i mean how does it relate to meth as in, tjhe effects it will have on your body, not the high effects, like the physical effects

MDMA is so short acting and much less stimulating, with no addiction potential, so no, it most likely will not have the same results as meth abuse.

The meth in methylendioxymethamphetamine just means it's related to methamphetamine; it doesn't mean the effects are similar, only that they are in the same class of drugs. In fact, methamphetamine is not the dominant drug that that class of drugs is based around. A wide variety of common drugs are phenethylamines, and methamphetamine and MDMA just happen to be 2 of them. Some others are the 2c-x drugs, Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin, and many other common drugs. They are in the same family as methamphetamine, but they all have very different effects and side effects.

Basically, having "meth" in the name doesn't refer to the type of effects a drug has, but instead, refers to the chemical structure of the drug. MDMA and meth having "meth" in their name just means they are structurally similar. That's all.

I think that should clear things up for you, but I'll leave this open for a little bit longer in case you have any more questions.

If you're on MDMA you'll be wanting to party. If you're on meth you'll be wanting to hit-wire cars.

^ lol.

OP: MDMA has different physical effects like everyone has pointed out, 6part7 gave a good explanation. You should search for MDMA on wikipedia or Erowid, it will show you the chemical structure to compare to meth and also list effects and side effects for you.

i decided to move this over to BDD since it's a more general question.

sixpartseven gave a good example and as Mr Blonde said check through the Erowid vaults. search through Other Drugs for methamphetamine threads as well as look through the Ecstasy Forum here for information.
