Difference between EZ Test and Dancesafe?

Does anyone know the difference between the EZ-test and the Dancesafe test? Is one more reliable?
I have one of each and was wondering (don't ask)....

Yep, we invented it, they copied it ;-)
The contents are not exactly the same.
We (EZ Test) added some Methanol to make it a bit more stable.
Also, the Methanol was added to be able to distinguish between mdma, mdea, mda.
However, those differences are too small and unreliable to claim that, so we do not claim that ;-)
There is an old colorchart here : http://www.eztest.com/faq.php3#faq9
Basically, this is not a difference.
DS has some more liquid, ours is slightly cheaper. I think delivery times are about the same. If you buy a DS kit, you support a good cause; testing and stuff. If you buy EZ Test you support Bluelight and the development of a brand new much better tester (really, it is coming, everybody has been waiting for ages now....Ewoud is currently writing the manual and it seems we got all the liquids and bottles sorted out)

The correct answer is that commercially available Marquis reagent testers are extremely similar. One a test by test basis they would be pretty much equivalent. The difference you will find is in the knowledge base behind it, and the support you will get from your manufacturer.
EZ Test DID NOT invent anything!! The Marquis reagent has been around in chemistry labs for decades, and in scientific literature for decades, and in use by forensic police for ages. Why do you think it's called Marquis reagent and not EZ Test reagent???
As for the methanol, well here are some more facts.
Formaldehyde is a gas at room temperature and pressure. Commercially, formaldehyde is sold as a solution of formaldehyde gas dissolved in water. The thing is, these formaldehyde solutions themselves are stabilised with about 9% methanol. So you see, EVERYONE'S Marquis reagent has methanol in it. Some with more than others, but on the whole they will all contain it. Now who can tell me why/how it stabilises the Formaldehyde? I will let that one sit for a week or two and then I will try to explain it.
The Marquis reagent tester developed by Chemical Generation is the best value on the world-wide market. It is in a 5mL bottle, which we think is sensible given that they tend to expire eventually. In a larger bottle, as promoted by some, the wastage seen when the larger bottle goes off would be a false economy.

B, I did not mean to upset you...
There is a smiley behind that sentence.
It is like a small tease.
If you do not like the word "invented" then you are maybe a bit right.
Maybe we did not figure out the reagent but we did figure out the concept.
We were having shit pills back in '96 and we knew August de Loor was already testing on parties with Marquis.
The whole story is a bit long but once you think it might be good idea to somehow put this in plastic or bottles for other people as well, then the whole thing just starts. Maybe we made a mistake with the small EZ Test; the original EZ Test that was released in 1997. At that time, we thought a tiny tube would be much better than a big bottle. We are still paying for the stuff/materials we had to buy to get the reagent into the tubes....
The idea was to get the testers out !
We have had difficulties (keeping the whole thing going) until about a year ago. At that time DanceSafe picked up the pill testing thing and we changed bottles.
I guess that was the point were we started to have normal (not great) business as well, it was about time....
So, maybe for you it is simply throwing some liquid into a bottle. For us it was a long way and for me the combination of all these things is inventing. Did you think about making such a product back in '96 ?
That includes setting up a website where you can pay online with a creditcard, getting merchant accounts, trying to make things clear on a website (had to learn html & php), answering (a lot) emails, setting up an administration (argh!), learning to work with a webcam and a bit of Adobe, some customer service, setting up a place where you can produce the testers etc etc.
I guess anyone can do it but some people have to actually put it together. Oh, and it was all done with hardly any money.
Most of all, the whole EZ thingy is a fun thing to do ;-) That is what I would call inventing .....

chem gen: whoah the fuck back...
as moderator of this forum i have to point out a few things to you. you are very new to this forum and it's common courtesy to cut some slack for those who have been here for a while, especially when they are making jokes, clearly indicated by those stupid smileys
wink.gif

big props to aj and the rest of the ez test team for getting it out there, when it was desperately needed. in a small and convenient form. so your average punter didnt have to fork out 500 american dollars for a DEA approved kit, which of course anyone with a knowledge of chemistry or cop movies knew about.
so 6 years have gone by and everyone and their dog has an idea on how to improve it. fantastic, that's what a market place is for.
but no excuse to be rude and to start typing before you think.
ez test are also patrons of bluelight and this forum was created for them. they were courteous enough to open it up to all makers of drug testing products. try and keep this in mind.
