Did Weed Did Open You Up To Trying Other Drugs?

Gateway my a**, I was bang on other drugs b4 weed. I turned to drugs because my mind would never shut down, i had endless thoughts and memories contsantly going on and i couldnt sleep. At first i went to the doctors, which they gave me all sorts of sleeping tablets some worked and some didnt but they all had drowzy effects on me the next day and i couldnt function properly. i started drinking after that (which in my opinion this is more of a gateway drug than any other 1) which worked at first but i needed more everyday and the after effects where horrible. I then went straight to harder drugs from there to see if i could clear my head and sleep without the hangovers. It did work for a little while, but then i had bad after effects from that. Weed was the last and final drug i take, it sends me to sleep and clears my head, i have no after effects (apart from still feelin slightly stoned from the night b4) lol. The only way weed has a bad effect on my life is when i cant afford it, which i think is the main problem about drugs. Most People who feel they need somthing to take the harsh reality of shi**y life away, take drugs. Money is my only problem with this drug. I cant afford £20 for 2grams everynight. If i had a plant to myself i wouldnt pay much to have it and i wouldnt have stress and money problems. Why isint this drug legal, this is the only drug i have taken out of all the legal and ilegal ones i have taken that works with my condition. if it wasnt for this drug or any drugs infact i would have topped myself years and years ago. My mind cant take how the world works so i take drugs, etiher that or give me a £million, i will proberly be happier. lol

I'm kind of surprised so many people tried other drugs first. I only smoked weed like four times before moving on to a short relationship with coke. Went back to weed 'cuz I wanted to try other stuff, but all a cokehead wants is more coke. I didn't really enjoy weed until I experienced most of the popular street drugs. I realized that for convienence and risk vs. quality of the buzz, weed has a better score than most drugs.

A lot of the older potheads (which I'm gradually becoming) have some good connects still from their youth. It's this crowd (24 to 30) that I manage to find and experience all I have so far. I met them through weed because its all they do anymore.

First drug I tried was Adderall. Well, actually I drank booze a few months before that experience, so really alcohol was my first drug, but it didn't make much of an impact on me. For some reason, I developed an interest in speeding in middle school. I was always really into caffeine, and my first two years in high school, I frequently took caffeine pills. Tried the Adderall my sophomore year of high school, and THAT opened the doors for me. After that, tried weed, started smoking cigarettes, got really into doing opiates and amphetamines constantly for about a year or so...eventually quit all that shit and became a stoner. And now here I am...on day 6 without weed and fiending like a bitch.

If anyone out there is reading this and just now getting into drugs, all I have to say is DON'T START DOING THEM EVERYDAY! It usually starts with maybe a weekly thing, and then pretty soon it's twice a week, then the next thing you know, you're fiending for a buzz all the time. I don't regret anything I've done. I just think life might be a bit easier without always worrying about whether or not my state of mind is sufficient, and always wanting just a little more.

i highly doubt weed is why i tried other drugs. i would say weed was as responsible for my other drug use as much as sugar and caffine and Amps are/were responsible for my weed use

IMO the gateway theory doesnt hold up. but to those that like to perpetuate the gateway theory i say to them; what about all the other drugs that are forced down kids throats. all the candy, caffine, what about endorphins and other indigenous pleasure neurotransmitters that we learn to set off at an early age. and in my case what about all those fucking Amphetamines i have been takin since the 5th grade.

^^^that's my number 1 reason I always get back into toking. Other drugs always lead me back to weed, whether for expense or tolerance issues.

First drug I had ever done was alcohol. Alcohol was the gateway drug for me. It went on from alcohol to ecstasy to cocaine to speed to weed to LSD plus anything else I have missed. I am now moving back home hoping it will stop me using some form of drug every weekend.

chairmanma084 is right. If I am already high I feel no urge to do other drugs. The only problem is I don't know many 'dealers' in my area.

No, weed isn't responsible for opening you up to other drugs, you're responsible for that. Weed was just the first option you took. It could have just as easily been vicodin prescribed to you by a doctor.

For me, it was cough syrup. Yeah, go ahead and laugh. But I loved the feeling I got from taking it as a little kid so when I was offered other stuff to get high at a later age, I was like "hell yeah"...

id have to say no to be honest, if it was anything it was booze that was my gateway, but then ive always decided i want to try a drug and read up about it in advance before doing it, i never do it on a whim, so curiosity was what got me really, just like that damn cat!

the only other drug i have had besides marijuana is mdma. however, i had already planned on doing this before i ever started smoking weed. i was never able to find good mdma until after a while i started smoking weed so i would not say weed opened me up to other drugs. i do not ever try and go out to find other drugs because i tell myself "oh, this drug has to be better than weed so let me try and get some". i still only do mdma every once in a while but i am pretty much content with smoking with no desire to try anything else.

I had always wanted to experience psychedelics before I started smoking dope, but seeing the extent to which I had been lied to about weed led me to try things that I probably would not have done if I had only been provided with accurate information, as I assumed that all illegal drugs were as benign.
