Did I just take too much methadone?

Hey there guys,
I'm just contemplating throwing up or not. I took 12.5 mg of methadone a little less than 48 hours ago (started with 7.5 and then took 5 more about 3-4 hours later), and I just took another 10 mg about an hour ago. I weigh 130 and have absolutely no opiate tolerance. Also I had 6 beers last night. Did I take too much er what?

nobody here can tell you medically and precisely if you're going to be alright - we can only give you a rough outline of what "might" happen but even then we can be incorrect.

methadone as you might know has an extremely long half life. as you have no opiate tolerance and the half life can be 15-60 hours we have no idea how much is left in your system.

if you are feeling faint, having difficulties breathing or feeling very slow i suggest going to an ER immediately. if you feel unwell, again, its best not to chance it and go to an ER now.

is there a sitter with you or anyone nearby?

the chances of you ODing on that amount is high considering you're not tolerant to opiates. i've seen numerous people with extremely high tolerances of opiates OD on methadone simply because they had no idea about its long half life and exclusive effects.

dabbling with methadone with absolutely no experience with opiates (i'm assuming) is extremely dangerous and plain silly. it's a very potent drug and has a whole host of unpredictable side effects that are not usual to regular/more conventional opiates.

I understand. I've done opiates before, but I just think by now I probably have very very little tolerance. I'm about to head over to my friend's house just in case. I only ask because it feels stronger than it did at this point the other day.
 
I think if you have a friend who can come stay with you, please do so. Definitely no more alcohol! You would rather be safe than sorry. Like synthetix said, if you start to feel unwell, get yourself to hospital.
 
i think the sooner the better if i'm honest. it's better to be safe and alive than dead.

call your friend and notify them of what you have taken. i don't suggest driving either. take a taxi or whatever, walk, anything just don't get behind the wheel as its dangerous.

considering you're asking the question of if what you've taken could be too much i think it may be a possibility. as i've now re-read your post and saying it feels more potent than it did before i definitely urge you to get to them as soon as possible and notify them of what you've taken.

methadone is a silly one to dabble with. honestly if you want to use opiates find a different one. it's potent, dangerous and long lasting.

remember, if you start feeling any of those symptoms do not hesitate and head to the ER immediately.

i'm sorry if i'm doom mongering and ruining the high etc, but really, you have to be careful with the stuff. people usually start to feel the effects of methadone around 1-2 hours after dosing, so you may not have started to experience the effects of the drug yet.
 
Well y'all have thoroughly scared the shit out of me. I seem to be fine though. My breathing is ok and pulse is normal.

I honestly believe you should be fine, no need to be worried.

I'd just avoid drinking while on Methadone, that's it.
 
Yes, thank you So8e. I'm actually fine everyone. I was just a little worried because I was already feeling it after an hour. I'm going to be okay though. I appreciate you all for your advice and concern!

So you took a total of 22.5mg of Methadone. They start Opiate Tolerant Patients on Methadone doses of 30mg and 40mg. You should be okay, might just feel pretty tired for a day or two.
 
Thank you for replying. I was getting a bit worried when you didn't but glad you have now. I'm sorry for the scaremongering, it's just much better to be safe and know what could happen rather than dead.
