alcohol=stupidity, disorientation, dangerous amounts of confidence that will ultimately end in someone getting hurt, lack of respect, lack of consideration for others, inability to think about consequences of actions with any clarity, etc...

So if you drew a graph of amount consumed against likelihood of that person getting involved in some kind of negative incident, it would go up up up!

Oh, did i mention i'm not an avid supporter or alcohol? LOL, never found a single enjoyable drink, never drink it anymore, rarely did before

Good to see another anti-alcoholer! I drink occasionally now, if i'm in a pub with other drunk people it's about the only option, but it's an absolutely shit drug, i went without for the best part of a year & didn't miss it at all, really can't understand so many people's unwavering love for it, there's just SO many better things out there!

That is veeery true, there are SOO much better things

The fact is that there is a social stigma towards illegal drugs, and it's a conglomerate ruling. So many people out there don't do their research into any type of drug, and just assume they are almost exclusively a negative force because of articles they've read in the paper about drug abusers performing ridiculously thoughtless acts.

Fundamentally, so many people, including most of the people i have met of my 'generation', believe all drug users are abusers, people acting self-destructively and with no consideration for the well being of others. We are labled and shunned, by typically ignorant morons, who have their own problems which in all liklihood are much worse, but generally more accepted by society. E.g binge drinking, complete lack of emotion, ignorance, stupidity, family problems, dellusions etc...

Of course loads of people abuse drugs, but i am so fucking sick of being categorised. in my job, people look down at me without knowing anything about me, i usually try to guess if they think i'm a self-destructive drug abuser, or violent binge drinker.

Its tought me to be more empathetic and sympathetic. It has also caused me to look at things differently, much like LSD.. but not the same extent obviously lol

I tend to be anti-social and not very self-confident and very self conscious most of the time. A lot of that goes away while on MDMA, and my successes in dealing with people in that state have built up a bit of confidence to deal with them better when I'm sober. It's not an overnight change, but it's definately progressing.

I am in the exact same situation as this guy. I definately think the drug has changed my outlook on life for the better. I've realized how important friends and family are and I've done a lot of thinking about my life on the drug. My future is looking a lot better and I think ecstasy helped start me out in the right direction.

I havent had pills for a while but there was a few times that they helped.

In the afterglow I wrote down the stuff that came up, I assumed I would bin it as drugged up bollocks but I can still read it to this day and it means something.

Ecstasay puts you in a comfy mind environment, so the shadowy bits of yourself, which are uncomfy to look at sober, emerge and you are more likely to find positive ways of healing deep issues which have dogged your life. It can also make you aware of your unhealthy ways of dealing with stuff, this is good as problems cannot be fixed if they are not known consciously.

I agree with this thread on abuse though, because, like any other drug, too much of it can cause the opposite effects to happen when the user stops or becomes tolerant. The pills lose their magic.

In my case the good life changing stuff has stayed with me, mushrooms have also given me permanent change for the better.
I dont like to think of how my life would have been if I hadnt tried these two things, as I have had life long profound psychological problems which, at long last, I feel I am getting somewhere with, although I dont use now due to lack of sources, supplies.

its just something to make you party harder

Thats just dumb, ecstasy shouldn't be used to just party harder.. If thats what you use it for I feel sorry for you man..

I think anyone who is smart enough to not ABUSE ecstasy should try it. From using ecstasy 2 times in my life it has changed it a lot, and it has made my life a LOT better.

MDMA allowed me to "unrepress" a lot of repressed feelings and emotions tucked way down in my subconscious. By using it in a non-party environment, around close friends, it allowed me to open up like I've never been able to before. It is the only drug, to this day, that I can definitely say has improved my life every time I've taken it. I don't take it much, but when I do, I always have a glowing, massively introspective experience in which I learn more about myself each time. I've never regretted an experience, and because of my responsibility with it, I don't expect to in the future.

Furthermore, I think it has the power to change others' lives too, far above any other recreational drug. Immortal PiHKAL quote of the week:
"MDMA is penicillin for the soul, and you don't give up on penicillin, once you've seen what it can do."

ecstasy is a drug

drugs change lives ok whats new man. Ecstasy is no different than any other drug. This thread might as well been titled how have drugs changed your life.Yeah ecstasy has changed my life...by shocking my serotonin receptors from which i experience happiness from and modifying my brain chemisty....now my head feels fuzzy and im depressed 24 hours a day...oh have i abused ecstasy? i thought i was only using the drug? taking ecstasy is the best thing a person can do? really? because it gives you some of the strongest feelings empathy you could experience? so does addiction...the most closest ive ever been with a person was my heroin buddy in highschool...thats because we were together under the influence of heroin and the hardships of addiction...so drugs can bring people closer...what else is new...

different drugs often have very different effects, even if they share common ones. The type of person who uses the drug has a pivotal infuence on the effects, as does the environment. This is really obvious, so why are you talking rubbish about all drugs being the same?!?

There is a thin line between use and abuse, it is often hard to pin point, and depends on many factors.

I bet you and your heroin buddy were together when you were stealing car radios and muggings people to pay for the addiction. i bet you were together when you were pulling your hair out and snapping at each other incessantly and unneccessarily, lol, sure i'm making assumptions based on stereotypes, but hey, i'm probably right, stupid heroin addicts...Deserve everything they get in most cases (except what they steal), although i can understand why someone would turn to it after something truely terrible happened in their life, escapism.

Ecstasy should be used however the person taking Ecstasy feels it should be used. Nobody here is in a position to judge the motives of others.

And not to sound like a prick, but I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Saying that Ecstasy has changed your life for the better after trying it two times is a little premature. If you can say the same after a few years, so be it.
