Did anyone else start with heroin?

It seems like a lot of heroin users "graduate" to the drug from using things like hydrocodone or oxycodone, but did anyone else just dive right into it with no real prior opiate experience? That was the case for me (although I did try hydrocodone twice before, and had taken codeine for bronchitis in the past, so I did have some minimal opiate experience). I actually came to use the drug from the methamphetamine drug scene, oddly enough.

I haven't used it in about a month, though, and since I moved away from my connections, I have no way to get more. Blessing in disguise probably.

Yes I used heroin as my first recreational opiate. I had taken Vicodin for wisdom teeth but as far as taking just for fun, I did heroin with a friend I usually did coke with. Couldn't get any coke that day but we knew someone who had dope so we figured we would try that. It was ECP so we could sniff it like the coke. It wasn't til 2 years later I tried IV

Of course, this was pre-OxyContin days, or I might've tried those first

I did hillbilly heroin first, then tried a couple weaker ones like codeine/tramadol, I did heroin about a year after I started doing opiates.

It wasn't really available to me at the time I began, even if it was I probably still would have chosen oxy because of pharmaceutical = doseage guarantee.

Did pure heroin the first time with opiates... it was a beautiful experience.

Tried again with codeine and got sick and haven't touched either since, aside from some weak-grade heroin once.

Just never enjoyed downers much, I honestly would rather just smoke weed or do some LSD and meditate... I like uppers, to be active and motivated in the world, not the type that likes to relax or nod off much at all.

I'm a pretty serious meth addict though, along with energy drinks [caffeine] and heavy smoker (e-cigs, pipes, cigarres, but mainly cigs).

To each their own. Would love good quality heroin for meth binge comedowns though, but the stuff here sucks.

Yeah I tried heroin as my first opiate. Bought a bag of #4 off the net out of curiosity, sniffed too much and ended up projectile vomiting on and off all day. Thought fuck, there must be more to it than this so tried it a few more times till one day I got my dose bang on and felt the lovely blankety euphoria I'd been looking for.

Now I've been doing it on and off for almost a year and generally prefer to buy it over anything else. Price is a part of that otherwise it'd still be coke more of the time but still, complete turnaround from last year when I was a massive cokehead/general stim person because now I very rarely buy stims at all.

/Shrug.

Tried some Vicodin years before I tried H, but yeah, pretty much went full bore into it. Keep in mind this was 1998; Oxy wasnt well-known here yet, and all these RCs were non-existant. First bag I bought lasted me 4 days doing IN bumps. Oddly enough, my first opiate experience (morphine) was in the ER when I was 14, for burns. I had read about the stuff, and even asked the doctor if I would become addicted. How wrong he was with that "no" answer. The only way to describe the feeling was this weird sensation travelling up my left arm, then it was lost in my shoulder, then BAM! Felt like a dump truck full of lead bricks was parked on the left side of my body. I was damn near in shock before that point, so I imagine why that's why the sensation was so intense.

Started with focus then found heroin was much cheaper.
Unfortunately, that first shot felt like heaven and has led me to slippery places. But I guess I graduated quickly.

I started with opium from 16-17 as it was the only opiate around and it was quite cheap and sometimes old hippies would give it to me. I lived in a remote hippy town where quite a few people from the weather underground hid out and still do. There is no real law enforcement in that town other than for murder and pedos. Most criminals are just punished with vigilante type justice. Thieves are usually beat up by store owners or whomever they stole from. Surprisingly other than alot of fist fights and pot smoking crime was rather low in the area.

I started every drug at a rather young age and some alot younger than I should have. I was really down to try any drug I could get my hands on and when I was 14 I moved to a very remote part of main where hard drugs where very easy to get even for kids. Old hippies had no problem selling or giving you acid. If you had a job, you were treated like an adult and people would sell you weed, oc's, shrooms, acid, and opium if they felt like you could handle it.

I don't know whether it was right or wrong but I personally could never sell drugs to a youngster. But anyways I had done just about every drug in the book by 17.

But anyways it was an interesting place to spend most my adolesence and I had tried some rather heavy duty and rare drugs. Some of the people there were rather interesting especially the local hippies that were artists, musicians, former members of the weather underground, and just people who wanted to live a certain lifestyle. "Normal" people were kept out of the whole drug thing as it just took place in the park, behind buildings, and just places where no one would walk by but it was very socially acceptable to smoke weed, drink, or for kids to smoke cigarettes as people minded their own business.

The first time I did heroin I was 19 and I had only done OC's a few times. I thought it was coke as I was rather drunk and it was an off white grey color and I was doing coke with the person who gave it to me. After doing a few lines I said something about that being a bit different and the guy said "shit I thought you knew that was smack." He was very apologetic and I just said it was nbd. I ended up doing it a bit more. The guy who gave it to me was my neighbor and he felt bad about putting me on it so he would throw me some bags for free for a while. I wanted to try it and do it anyways and it was clear to dude so it was nbd. I ended up moving after getting pneumonia due to living in a really nasty apartment that flooded. Everyone else moved out after that, but I had no where to go.

After that I went to opium as my first regular opiate habit still at 19. I got into that for a bit as the price was rather cheap. There is usually a no pricing rule so I won't put the price I paid but it was cheaper than weed per gram at least for me. I did know some rather heavy duty people at that time though and would pay 1/4 to 1/5th of the street value for most drugs.

I got into pills I suppose after a few injuries and back then I could call in refills for family members and often medications would be upped. So I was calling in several for my own injuries and for 2 family members so pills were extremely easy to get. I built up a habit after a while but it was nothing I couldn't control back then.

After getting significantly injured I got on chronic pain management and for a while I sold my medication and bought heroin because I was still having trouble writing or typing and I was desperate to stay in school.

So I suppose my first opiate habits where opium and heroin. At first I saw pills mostly as a way to get money for weed, heroin, and other drugs. I ended up just sticking with pills and mellowing out and taking what I was prescribed after my dose got raised high. I only really got addicted to pills after using heroin regurally and getting a high dose. I suppose once I had to take them daily for pain well that made it a habit and I got physically dependent then.

I still prefer heroin and opium to pills but availbility, having to drive a long distance to get it cheap, and not wanting to go to jail or prison has kept me using just pills these days. I tell you, after you spend a bit of time in jail especially if you are a drug addict, you real would rather not go back, but maybe that is just me. So I really prefer not to buy extremely large amounts of hard drugs at once anymore despite the payoff of getting it so much cheaper as I really do not ever want to be looking at spending my life in prison. Its not horrific like in the movies but it is still a nasty place to be and well it can get very bad if you fuck up as there is really no room for error in prison.

Jail, here, is a frikkin' palace rather than the dungeons of other jurisdictions around. Prison, I dunno. I was actually less stressed in jail the three months I was there than the three months prior. Time does move slowly, especially that first week, but no worse than home when you're dopesick.

The anticipation is just as bad as jail sometimes.

It is fucking brutal wondering for a long time if you are going to prison or not.

Just went through that whole thing but it stretched out over a damn year. Was probably the most stressful year of my life.

You can't enjoy much when you are wondering if you got to go to court each month and wonder if they gonna send you to prison or let you be free. Its torture mane. I felt like I was in jail half the time plus you gotta be on extra good behavior the whole time which makes it even worse.

I did

Heroin was the first opiate I tried too. It made me projectile vomit. So I persisted until desired effects were achieved but the nausea would never go away. I didn't really touch it again for a while.

Then I got my hands on some dihydrocodeine, and managed to find a dose where I could enjoy the buzz without feeling sick (unless I smoked a cig..).

Slowly progressed onto Oxy, then quickly onto heroin/morphine again. Eventually tolerance rose to the point where no amount of DHC would be felt and was relegated to the stronger stuff...

This was all in a 3-4 year period or so. It all happened so quick.

2 years clean :)
