Diagnosed; prevent this from happening to you!

also ive been on oral steroids (anabolic, methyl masterdrol) pretty much ever since it went down with her (about 4 weeks ago)

anabolic steroids boost your immune system so maybe my body resisted it.

Sadly it doesn't resist it, you might not be getting a breakout due to your immune system boost, however the virus is most likely there. Depending on how many sexual partners you have had you most likely have it anyways. 90% of sexually active people carry a strain of HPV. Who knows you might have gave it to her. Just food for thought.

i had multiple tests during and after my IV drug use and even got a clean bill of health in sept. (bloodwork) and i have never had any warts or anything, and a girl i was having unprotected sex w/ had a blood test just last month and was clean.

i havent been with anyone but hpv girl since

moved to a new area and in a slump

i assure u she had it way way way before she ever knew me

how do u not tell someone that. im not concerned about my health, but im 20 years old and have lots of partners at certain points and i now am forced to wear a rubber everytime because i now could have something. not good

There is no test for HPV except for visual confirmation!

a doctor did not test you for hpv as there is no test for men. a woman cannot be tested for low-risk hpv; they are only diagnosed after visual inspection concludes the presence of genital warts.

between the ages of 21 and 35, a woman is only tested for high-risk hpv if her pap shows a presence of abnormal cells. she is not tested otherwise. even if she insists, doctors usually discourage testing. what's the point of making you worry about something that you'll likely have no health complications with and will go away on its own between 8 months to 2 years after exposure?

most doctors, my own included, suggest it's unnecessary to inform a sexual partner you've been diagnosed with hpv once the two year time frame has lapsed and you've experienced no complications.

you could have HPV. you've admitted to being with a number of partners and it is estimated that more than 75% of sexual active people acquire the virus at some point in their lives. you're young and if your healthy, it will go away on its own. you should be wearing condoms anyway but be aware that hpv is spread through skin-to-skin contact or contact with infected skin cells (condoms do not cover to entire genital area and if you were to touch an infected persons genitals and then your own, you could become infected).

the best thing you can do is eat healthy, get rest, take a daily multi-vitamin and reduce your stress.

My heart just breaks for the OP here.
I got the vaccine. Kinda felt like they were injecting rubber cement under my skin. But it's better than the alternative.

she didnt tell me she used to have it. and let me raw dog her on her period the first time we fucked (she didnt tell me that either and i couldnt tell something was up until a few minutes in)

Your sexual health is your own responsibility.... You shouldn't assume that somebody would tell you if they had HPV or whatever, so unless you've had the conversation and tests etc, just wear a condom!

Go for test before it's gets worse. Genital warts usually harmless, but they can be embarrassingly ugly, uncomfortable, and painful. It can be contagious to your partner as well.

no, there is a test for hpv. I had it done when I had an abnormal pap. Fortunately, the test turned out negative for me, but the dr explained to me that even if I had it, practically everyone's immune system suppresses it after about six months... IN OTHER WORDS, it's not like herpes; you wouldn't have it forever.

...there is no [HPV] test for men. a woman cannot be tested for low-risk hpv; they are only diagnosed after visual inspection concludes the presence of genital warts.

furthermore, women are only given the (high-risk) HPV test after age 35 OR if a PAP smear displays abnormal cells, as in your case BeckyLee.

the time period for eradication or suppression of the virus is more like 8 months to 2 years. suppression means that though your immune system disables the virus to such low levels that you no longer have any complications and can no longer spread it, you do still carry it.

most ob/gyn's advise that if you've been diagnosed with high-risk HPV you NEVER skip an annual wellness exam and you are closely monitored during pregnancy since hormones can cause cells to grow at a faster rate... if you've had a treatment such as LEEP for precancerous cells, it is advised you are closely monitored during the early stages of pregnancy due to possible cervical incompetency.

i know the OP is currently pregnant so i wish her the best and hope she is following doctor's orders carefully.

Let's clarify here, since people seem to be confused.

THERE IS NO [COMMERCIAL] BLOOD TEST FOR HPV. THERE IS NO TEST FOR MEN. The only way men are typically diagnosed is by visual confirmation of warts.

The way they test for it in women is by taking a cervical tissue sample (pap smear) and using histological analysis to determine the presence of abnormal squamous cell epithelial tissue - that means that they stain it and stick it under a microscope to look at the cells and see if they are abnormal. If there are cells that appear to be abnormal, further testing will be done, but usually none of it involves actually looking for the virus. Even when someone has clearly cancerous tissue, they won't always genotype the virus (check to see which strain it is), because there's really no point to it. All they do is look at the cells themselves to see if they exhibit signs of having begun cancerous initiation/promotion/progression.

P.S. The chances of catching any STD from a toilet seat is infinitesimally small, if not zero. I would take anyone's anecdotal reports saying that they did with a grain of salt...

Sorry to bring up a VERY old thread, but,
There is a test for HPV in men.
Very surprised to hear so many people continue to say no, no, no.

There is a test in which the penis is covered/dipped in vinegar, aectic acid, and looked at under a black light.
I'm not positive at how effective this method is, but I know it is in fact used.
I myself have not been tested for HPV, but have spoken to a doctor about such.

Just figured I should put this information out there for people who may come across this in the future.
