Stimulants Dexedrine vs Vyvanse?

How come when I do Dexedrine I have a very satisfactory high with almost no side effects and when I do the pro drug of dex. Vyvanse I feel nauseated itchy agitated and paranoid?

I don't know a lot about these types of drugs but I guess since you react to a pro-drug, it's the other metabolites of metabolism you are reacting too. Some people can take Vicidin but are allergic to codein or morphine. It's really all speculation on why you yourself reacts this way. If you are seeing a dr talking to them about this.

I'll leave this open for a while and see if anybody else has an answer.

This is why you're getting bad side effects. If you binge on amphetamines, jacking up the dose more and more isn't going to somehow give you that "honeymoon euphoria" again. I have a feeling the reason you're getting negative side effects is less because you're taking Vyvanse (vs. Dexedrine...Vyvanse is a prodrug for Dexedrine...) and more because you've been staying up and taking high doses of amphetamines over and over again.

You need to sleep and you need to take a break from amphetamines if you want to reduce the negative side effects. I also recommend making sure that you're staying hydrated, taking vitamins (specifically vitamin C, magnesium supplements, and B-vitamins...among others...) and taking care of yourself.

You're taking very high doses of amphetamines man. Step it down a notch.

Vyvanse gave me bloodshot eyes for 8 straight hours when I was figuring out what medication was best for my sleep disorder. I have a strong feeling it gets taken up into tissues at a very different rate than amphetamine personally.

I ended up staying up for 52 hours bc I threw in a low dose of Dexedrine near the end but the whole day after not sleeping I felt like I just smoked a bowl like out of it an can't stop laughing no stimulation from the 120mg vyvanse and 15mg dex

Yoooo, the answer to this is actually pretty simple. Amphetamine or Speed is for obvious reasons the most potent form of "Speed", yet that molecule has a number of Isomers which induce similar feelings (Unsure of the actual number of amphetamine isomers). The two most potent isomers to the molecule are Dextro-Amphetamine and Levo-Amphetamine. Dextro being the more potent of the two. Dexedrine as the name suggest is just pure Dextro-Amphetamine so obviously Dexedrine is going to produce the better high. Adderall is very similar to Dexedrine, the difference being that Adderall is a Amphetamine salt containing four parts. Three parts Dextro-amphetamine and one part Levo-Amphetamine (Levo increases heart rate more so then dextro, which is why some prefer adderall). Then doctors decided to create analogs to these drugs, which induce close to the same feelings. Which is where ritalin, concerta, strattera (little bit different it is a no-epinephrine uptake inhibitor works on dopamine),vyvanse ect. None of these drugs will induce nearly as fun,positive,ect feelings, and every Analog usually has a more severe crash/comedown. Ritalin being the worst IMO.

Vyvanse is a prodrug for speed... It's metabolized into dextroamphetamine in the body.

Also, Vyvanse is a bit less than half the potency of Dexedrine, so that probably has something to do with it.

vyvanse gave me more negative effects than dexedrine as well. insanely dry mouth, nausea, paranoid anxiety, and didnt even help me focus. the crash started two hours after ingestion, and gradually came down for about 12 more hours, and it wasnt recreational or even therapeutic in any way for me. dexedrine is a smooth ride for me, and the comedown is barely noticeable, i get no nausea or dry mouth, it works great for ADD, and its very recreational. desoxyn worked the way i expected vyvanse to work: long lasting, more euphoric, stronger, and a less "dirty" version of dexedrine. i dont know why, but i reacted the same way as you did. it might be the longer duration that lets the side effects keep getting stronger throughout the 14 hours, unlike dexedrine, which starts to wear off after 90 minutes of feeling effects, and the side effects stops increasing after that time, and quickly wear off until they are merely residual effects, and are usually not significantly uncomfortable. thus being unable to develop side effects as noticable as the ones while on vyvanse. having said that, desoxyn lasts a solid 8-10 hours, and has less side effects than any other med. also there might be something thats going on with the way its absorbed and released into your liver, like maybe your digestive system doesnt react well to the process of converting the l-d-amp into d-amp to get released into the liver. or maybe the lisdexamp gets kinda dirty when it turns into d-amp, and doesnt convert well, thus giving a less pure feeling, and having more side effects. this isnt based on any fact, im just theorizing, cause im curious to know this as well. desoxyn is what vyvanse was supposed to be, and is the most effective ADD med, as well as the most recreational, and within prescribed doses, the safest. id stick with dex for now, maybe try an ER formulation of dexedrine to extend the duration while still getting the clean dexedrine feeling and none of the vyvanse side effects.

How can vyvanse and dexedrine really be different in the end if both drugs are dextromaphetamine hitting you eventually.
As long as you take a equivalent dose of vyvanse to dexedrine dose, it should be the same at soem point of the high.
One is a certain drug metabolising first then the dextroamphetamine releasing (vyv)
and dexedreine is simply pure dextro releasing...whats the dif besides one takes longer to hit reallly..? in terms of getting high..

Isn't vyvanse absorbed much more slowly into the body than dexedrine? This might be why the high is lighter from vyvanse.
