Dexamphetamine v Ritalin in NZ

I been taking MPD IR generic mostly for 5 years, with a 1 month trial of Dexamphetamine 4 years ago, which worked well (1, 5mg tab put me to sleep) and was generally longer lasting and smoother. I went to see my counsellor and a Psych to get their approval to satisfy my GPs legal requirements recently, and i mentioned i found my trial of Dex more satisfactory than the MPD, and the Psych replied "we don't wanna put you to sleep" (this only happened the 1 time with Dex)


Well having a tolerance or rapid metabolism of MPD even brand SR form, i require dosage every 4 hours-even SR, so my dosage was changed, so now i'm scripted 6x the usual-average adult daily dosage, and 2x the max recommended daily dose.

The Pharmacist said he hadn't ever seen a Ritalin script that large before and he was~40ish.

I needed far less Dex and am at a loss of what to do other than shell out$$$ for a private Psych.

Damn NZs domestic meth problem, where 'amphetamine' is a dirty word here. Apparently you Aussies have a big Ice problem, but ADD/HD is more often treated with Dexamphetamine?

I thought it was NZ that had the crystal problem, what do you call it P? Anyway just from my memory of highschool, dex was far more common then ritalin. But then again i was never prescribe, just buying it for exams.

Yeah P ... I would say NZ has a bigger problem in that a massive portion of the 18-35 age bracket use it on a regular basis.
The scary thing is that its not just in the main centres either but rife amongst the regional centres as well ...

Its very sad and its fucking society up over there ... IMO ... but it effects genuine cases such as scream and people with bad colds who are treated like addicts when trying to get anything remotely close to P ...
Good luck trying to purchase any decent cold and flu tabs if you are a male under 30 in NZ ...

How the hell does anyone even afford to use meth on a semi-regular basis over there when a gram costs more than the average weekly wage?

Scream this is a drug discussion forum so I assume you use some kind of drugs. Im just curious if you use P, meth, crystal etc or have ever tried it? Do you like the feeling or Ritalin or Dex as a recreational type drug?

Dex is prescribed far more often, but the flipside is GPs aren't allowed to prescribe any stimulants for treatment of ADHD (as far as I'm aware), so private psych is the only way to go. Once you've got a rapport with one you only have to make one ~$80 visit every 6 months anyway, assuming you guys can manage a similar number of repeats to what we do.

---havn't taken clan lab 'P', been offered it loads of times but have seen too many ppl admitted to psych wards, and when in prison for a short time recently every second person seemed to be there as a result of P, one way or another.

I like the feeling of having a quick thinking, interested in stuff, usefull brain state that Ritalin provides, as compared to it's non MPD slow, lack of focus/interest in anything normal state. I loved the restfullness, sense of well being, peacefull brain state Dex gave me, as opposed to it's usual messy, chaotic, noise filled Dex unmedicated state i experienced off it.

-- Dex is scripted far less here too. I'v met senior pharmacists who have never dispensed it, and many chemists don't even carry it.

Here only a Psych, Peadeatrician, Internal medicine specialist can iniate/recommend treatment with Rit/Dex, EXCEPT in a hospice setting when any GP can perscribe MPD only.
