you might wanna try olanzapine/zyprexa it works great for me
I am considering going on Mirtazapine as well, but I am not Bipolar, I just don't like the side effect profile of SSRI's/SNRI's, although they work for some people.
Which dosage of Mirtazapine did you go on? I'm thinking if 45mg of mirtaz will be stimulating due to the effect on NE at that dosage (AD dosage), while doses under 30mg are anxiolytic and sedative. Mirtaz loses most its sedative properties at 45mg, as far as I know.
If I were to go on ~7.5mg mirtaz in addition to 2.5mg diazepam/day and 0.25mg clonazepam/day (been on clonazepam a week at 0.5-1mg/day), will it still make me gain weight if I totally abstain from sweets and junk food? I'm thinking it can be an exercise in self control, which can be encouraging and confidence-enhancing if I can stay away from the sweets during super-remeron-munchies, plus it's the one of the only AD's that shows benefit in the first week or so. I just want an AD for a couple of weeks until I get settled in to the semester, then a quick taper off so I don't get dependant.
Thoughts? Is Remeron without any weight gain possible? I know the effect on H1 receptors adds to weight gain, whether you like it or not, but I'm sure the remeron munchies are responsible for most of the weight gain.
i dont care for addictive drugs that don't get me high...Antid's never worked for me so i just self medicate
Maybe Tianeptine (SSRE(nhancer)) is an option for you. It seems to like an promising antidepressant.
Low-Dose Amisulpride (lower or equal to 200mg) is also a quite effective antidepressant, which might be stimulating (not for me though). It might also ease the bi-polar..
I don't know about the US but here in Germany it is also unavailable but if i really want it and my doctor agrees, he can prescribe it and i can get it from anywhere in the EU (France for example). But then it is not covered by our very wealthy and good health insurance and i have to pay it myself 8) ...I was always curious to give Tianeptine a try, but I don't believe I'm able to acquire it in the United States. Am I wrong about this?
What is your diet like? If you have a poor diet your body can not make the proper chemicals to regulate body chemistry.
Think of it like playing with a play dough hamberger set, at first you have a the proper colors to make a correct burger.
After a whole of playing with it, the dough dries up. You lose pieces and have to make a burger with missing parts or green buns instead of brown buns. It works but isn't quite right.
Look into taking vitamins and supplements.
Get a vitamin blood plasm level and see if this can be causing the imbalance.
It may not fix everything but can can help out tremendously with the way you feel and perceive life.
Another option is trying GABA and 5-HTP Suppliments. They work by relieving stress and putting chemicals back into balance. They worked for me. Ask your dr. And if they seem not to know ask a health food store clerk. They usually know about herbs and pharmacology.
I hope you get well better soon and find balance.
