Thank you @cbtodacb for your reply. I have taken your daily prescription, in my long past, with the exception of the drug,
Lyrica, (Pregabalin) due to my fears of further weight gain. My Body Fat Index is currently a 28 (overweight) but short of
being obese, a BFI of 30.
I would like to encourage anyone with a interest in benzodiazepine therapy for anxiety, to please seek out this outstanding book,
GOOD CHEMISTRY (the life and legacy of Valium inventor Leo Sternbach. (2004) McGraw Hill publishers, with a outstanding staff
of 6 authors of high medical credentials, Baenninger, Costa e Silva, Hindmarch, Moeller, and Rickels. ISBN 0-07-142617-5
I want to also thank @rollinstoner for this Bluelight members positive comments on this thread.
to other Bluelight members questions on certain meds, I will only say that, yes, I have in my long past, tried the following meds:
Buspirone (USA Bu-Spar) up to 25 mg per day for 6 months, without any other meds, and it failed to relieve my anxiety.
Doxepin (USA Sinequan) 75mg to 150 mg at bedtime, for two three month trials, in the late 1970's, to substitute, my needs for
Roche Valium, and, the side effects of extreme drowsiness, caused me to discontinue this anti-depressant.
Also, I have tried, with some measurable success, the drug Imipramine (Giegy Tofranil) 50mg per evening, for two years, with
cognitive therapy one on one, with a MSW psychotherapist, during 1991 to 1993.
Also, I have used since 1997, on a very limited basis, the excellent anti-hypertensive beta-adrenergic blocking agent, called
Propranolol, for social anxiety/stage fright symptoms, with good results, taking from 10mg up to 40 mg per day. I currently,
am out of USA Inderal (but, have Sanofi Aventis Corgard 80mg (nadolol) if needed, again, I use on a irregular basis. (partly due
to my fears of aggravating my underlying lifelong Depression).
Also, twice, I have titrated in, from my Psychiatrist of now 14 years, the anti-depressant, Mirtazapine, USA "Remeron" in both, the
7.5mg and 15 mg tablet at bedtime. Next morning stubborn drowsiness, caused me to discontinue this anti-depressant, and both
times to go back to USA Desyrel, (Trazodone 100 to 150 mg) from 1999 to the year 2009.
My current diagnosis, is Attention Deficit Disorder, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), and Anxiety Disorder NOS (not
otherwise specified) My M.D writes me for Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts 2 x 10mg per day) the benzo Clonazepam,
one tablet of .5 mg per day, and, Sanofi Ambien (10mg Zolpidem) due to a 4 year tolerance, I substitute, Pfizer Halcion, in
two (2) of the tiny 0.25 mg tablets at bedtime.
I continue after tapering down off of Pentazocine 50 mg per day, (July of 2011) and, now, USA Percocet (Oxycodone 5 mg with
325 mg of APAP) to 1/2 tab to 1/4 tab daily to zero for my self medicated depression, I find the psychological withdrawal, to be a
sneaky, bear of a desire to stay away from. I do not have anymore sources anywhere, and, I know of no M.D who will prescribe these
pain meds for Depression. A good read for me was this book "Pain Pill Addiction" by Jana Burson M.D (2010) ISBN 978-160844-698-0
